I think that's just because Slickdeals can make money from chase if you use their link. I'm not actually worried about it. This is how I started though. Have had companion pass for the last 8 years. Gets me to Cabo 4 times a year. Great deal.

You've got it reversed. The spend counts toward earning the card's signup bonus; the purchased points are not companion pass-qualifying points.

how have you had it for 8 years? just making the 100,000 points every year?

I have submitted application for Business card.
It is in review.

Once approved, I am planning to send application for Personal card.

Are those correct steps?

Is there a phone number I can call to expedite decision on Business card?

By the way, the link shows 75K Bonus for personal card. The OP says it is 50K. Is this changed recently?

Hi all! Signed up for both the personal and business cards today so I can get the companion pass. Hoping to get some clarty here though about my experience...and have questions answered.

1. I was approved instantly for the personal ($20,000 spending limit). Requested expedited delivery of card immediately after and was granted.

2. The weirder part that I'm hoping for feedback on: I did the business card immediately after. Once again, I was immediately approved, which I was surprised by considering how many people on this thread seem to have to call or wait for approval. Anyway, the weird part was I was only given a $5,000 credit limit, which is very low. Especially considering I was given a credit limit of 20K for the personal earlier today. Did I do something wrong in my answers when applying? I have never applied for a business card before.

Anyway, that's my experience. I am buying a new car next week and plan to just have the dealer charge these two credit cards for amounts slightly below the spend required to hit the card/mile bonuses. Then put the cards away until January 1st and then do the other charges required to hit the spend levels required that day.

That said -- I also need to get the companion pass as early as possible in January.

Do I need to contact chase and have them set the payment due date as January 1st or 2nd? Or did I apply too late (December 6) for both cards to be able to do this and still get the companion pass in early January?

Try calling the reconsideration line. Sometimes it can be as simple as moving funds around from other Chase cards. If you have too much credit with them they can deny new card openings. Or maybe they just need some info about your business. When I first applied for the business card many years ago I had to call in to provide some info about my business, although I didn't get a rejection it was just "thanks for applying, we will let you know" sort of message.

1. You can call 800-453-9719 to check on status. Hit 0 once you've got the automated status to speak with a rep. They told me they are having trouble with their backend system, which is delaying their review process. I applied on November 26 and uploaded some requested documents last week. Today they told me to give them another 1-2 weeks!

2. The 75k deal on the personal card ends 12/11/23, so be sure to apply by then.

I have 60k points sitting on my southwest card right now (dec 2023) can these count towards 24/25 pass or all the points have to be earned in the same calendar year?

If you earned the bonus this month, then the points would count toward a companion pass for 23 and 24 if you earn enough points. If you want 24-25 then your account statement needs to close in '24 at the same time you reach the bonus.

So if I do Not hit 135k by the close of Dec statement, I can still rollover 2023 60k points to get the pass in early 2024. Assuming I can get to 135k points in Jan 2024 statement.

I don't think you can rollover 60K points to be counted as 135K.

I think companion pass is only if 135K are earned in SINGLE calendar year.
