Yes has to be same calendar year, no roll overs. Thats why its tricky when everyone is trying to time everything so close the december/january frame to maximize the CP. The statement closing date HAS to be in 2024 if you want 2024-2025 time period. I usually play it safe and do all my spending in Jan, I get my CP in Feb but i'm guaranteed not to mess up!

So, I got both cards in the past week but both say "Next Closing Date not available." But the first payment date is around Jan 17 for both. I am good to go to meet the bonus spending limits now?

If I pay my rent from any of these cards, does it give me the points? If not, where can I find qualified spendings?
I got $5000 limit on my personal CC, is it bad idea for credit score to spend all of $3k in the same month?

If your landlord takes credit cards then sure. Why wouldn't it? Chase doesn't care WHAT you spend money on- just that you spend it.

It's a bad idea to let it get reported you're using over 50% of your limit.

The fix for that is send the payment first-- you can overpay a card, have a negative balance, then charge to offset it.

USUALLY the balance is reported when the statement closes, so you could in theory pay AFTER the charge as long as it clears before it closes, but not much reason to wait if you want to be sure not to have a large % used reported.

Hey guys!
few questions from y'all
and background: I claimed this deal over 2 years ago so I should qualify

overall does it matter if I apply to personal vs. business card first?
i know the personal ends today so may have to apply to that first

questions on the business card application though on what to input into certain fields:
  • For authorizing title: any recommendations? it says like member, owner, partner, president etc? I'm thinking Owner
  • then under the main business info section:
    • Business legal name? i think last time you just put your full first and last name, example: JOHN DOE (no need for middle right)
    • For Tax ID Type, I don't have an EIN so I was just going to use SSN
    • # of employees? is it okay to just put 0? i think so but wanted to confirm
    • Business established data and revenue? any suggestions here like minimum time I should put for that date? as well as minimum revenue?
    • Any examples of what to pick for business category, type and sub type? and estimated monthly spend
I know its a lot of questions but wanted to see what stuff other folks were putting in on most cases and recommendations.

Also to circle back, any issues if i apply to the personal first since it's about to expire or is it highly recommended to apply for the business card first?

Thanks SD gang!

You can apply as a sole proprietorship, meaning you're the only employee. I used my name. Don't enter zero as number of employees... count yourself. I applied to business first as it's sometimes tougher to get, but it doesn't make a difference in the end. They also made my credit limit $5k on the business card, which I think was based upon my monthly estimated spending.

Anyone know this answer? This was the deal I got on two years ago exactly:
Earn 50,000 bonus points after spending $2,000 on purchases in the first 3 months your account is open, plus 50,000 more bonus points after spending $12,000 total on purchases in the first 12 months.

1/2/2022 Opened card and made first purchase
2/4/2022 Received my first 50k points
4/4/2022 Received my second 50k points

My card is now closed. To wait the 24 months and get the points again do I have to wait past the 1/2, 2/4, or the 4/4?

The details of the new card state you could not have received a new Cardmember bonus within the last 24 months. (do you think that 4/4 second 50k points counts?)

also
This does not apply to Business Card and Employee Credit Card products. The card I got was a Plus Personal card so I think I could just open the Business one and get the 80k and be okay?

So... would buying an Amazon gift card for $5000 count toward the $5k spend? Big Grin

Yes we'd be forfeiting 5% ($250) by not using Amazon prime visa on those future $5k of amazon purchase, but seems like a quick way to hit minimum spend.

Has it been confirmed that gift card purchases count toward the min spend?

So I applied bc I was pretty sure I had got the bonus in 2019. Covid really messed things up apparently, bc they said I had received that bonus in March 2022. (I think this was part of the extension they had given people post-covid).

All that to say, I had closed my account on Nov 29, 2023, and the CSR said I would not be eligible to receive the bonus again for 24 months past the close date. So Nov 2026 I will be eligible again. This is contrary to everything I've read online.

If my statement close date is 12/3, it seems I can reach my $3000 spending in December and since the next statement closes 1/3/2024, I'll get my 75,000 rewards points in 2024 for the companion pass? Just worried the 75,000 bonus points would go into 2023 this month

I am in a similar situation and would like confirmation from the community. My closing date on the last statement is 12/9. From reading the early posts in the thread about timing it's my understanding that purchases made through the rest of this month will accumulate towards the JANUARY statement closing which is the trigger point for the bonus award if the spend requirement has been met.

Those of you that have been down this road please confirm or correct. Thank you.

At least if you time to reach the maximum in the very beginning of Jan 2024, you should be good by 1/9/24? My closing date is 1/3/24, so a bit too tight

Can I still open both cards on Xmas 12/25/23, and still get C Pass for most of '24 and '25 if I complete the offers in the next couple months?

If you get the two business cards (80K+60K) or the personal card plus the business card plus $5K spend (80K+50K+5K), you should be able to reach your goal for companion pass.
