They're the exact same things made by Samyang. I bought it 4 months ago from BH. It works well but not perfect. The tube will slide down if putting downward vertically. It's ok for personal using because its price. Don't recommend for professionals especially wedding photographers. It's very annoying while switching cameras.

How does this compare to the Gmaster? Would it be within 70-80% of the G Master quality overall?

TIA

I have Rokinon Prime lenses, they're great quality but this is a huge range, 35-150mm would be my carry lens tbh
Great question to ask on r/sonyalpha. I'm guessing if you receive a good lens with no defects it would definitely be at 80%+ quality of the gmaster. You'd want to test your lens pretty extensively to make sure there's no defects with AF or clarity or anything else.

So tempted but so wary given reviews, decisions decisions!!
given its returnable, if i needed this kinda lens i would have pulled trigger. while it may hit this price during holidays, it will be hard to beat. and compared to Tamron price, no brainer.

The actual reviews on YouTube seem overwhelmingly positive, but there does seem to be some bad examples floating around like defective autofocus or other issues. If you get a good example, I think you should be golden. If it's questionable, send it back to woot. I'm not sure if I knew how to test the lens properly though as an amateur.

I was so tempted when I found the deal yesterday to sell my Tamron 28-75mm 2.8 for $500 and buy this as a $400 upgrade especially since I'm only rocking 1 lens total with my A7R3. But... not sure if I "need" to upgrade here. Decisions decisions!
thats a tough one. if you dont mind the size/heft of this lens, and more importantly dont mind losing the 28mm (i would, especially since its your only lens), i would do the upgrade.

The extra 1.5lbs will probably be the deal breaker here because my wife uses the A7R3 maybe 25% of the time and is taking an increased interest in the hobby and is somewhat considering doing it semi-professionally in the future. For her to lug around this kind of lens would be a pretty big ask with how "compact" our current setup is.

She gave me the go ahead to make the decision though which is nice. Gotta pass for now, sadface.

been eyeing this lens for a while since my company offers $1500 as hobby purchase. $900 is the lowest I have seen so far but from Woot? IDK... I will keep holding until Black Friday then pull trigger, official sites are selling for about $1100 with coupon + no tax.
I have been using 35mm and 85mm but i hate carrying around both lens and replacing them every time. This 35-150mm would be a perfect lens for me to shoot as a hobbyist, it's a bit heavy though...

It's a copy of the superb Tamron 35-150. It's tempting at this price for hobbyists, but if you're a professional you should go with the Tamron.
This actually makes it a lot more palatable. Tamron have proven themselves as one of the top lens designers.

Maybe silicone band like this can help against lens creep. Apparently doesn't work on all lenses.

They've copied much of the design like the aperture blades, number of glass elements, close dimensions and the design. It's not a clone and there's quite a few differences. Seems like this Rokinon/Samyang lens is actually a bit better on some areas than the Tamron. Tamron has 5 year warranty vs 1 on this.

Copying the basics of a well designed lens is a much better approach than making a new design entirely.

I keep reading that the lens has terrible creep. But I watched reviews videos on YouTube and it seemed like it was better overall than the tamron similar lens
I had two.. and yes the creep is horrendous and I went Tamron.. Not even exaggerating.

Ehhhh I assume these are customer returns and most likely to be bad copies of the lens. The worst focus seeking issues, worst zoom creep.

Ok, apologies in advance, I don't know a lot about this. . . But, would this lens fit?

I wish they made a similar lens for Canon mount…but as far as I know they do not (?)
Same.. this sounds like a killer lens, just from the initial specs.

If Canon made it, it'd be like $4k.

Yes both are E mount and will fit. This is a full frame lens and you have a crop sensor so focal length will be closer to a 50-200. You might be able to find something better for crop that will be lighter and cheaper.
