Make sure you register your Sonicare to "extend" their warranty out the full 3 years of coverage. I am glad I did this last year when I bought a set of these newer 4100s to replace mine and my wife's 5 year old Sonicare handles. Thing is, I kept the old (thicker style) handles for use camping and at work and they are still ticking at 6 years without issue... BOTH of our 4100s have broken around the one year mark.

Apparently the metal tips, where the brush heads pop on, are much weaker on these newer models because some kind of linkage inside both of ours broke causing the metal tips to flop around loosely far diminishing their cleaning power and making an un-godly terrifying sounding noise each lol. Philips was good about replacing them both though, just had to call them and give the serial numbers and had replacements a week or so later (with prepaid labels included to ship the 2x broken ones back). They actually upgraded us to fancier models since they were out of stock on the 4100s fore warranty replacements I guess.

Needless to say, we still had our trusty "backup" set under the counter to use in the interim haha. Register your warranty though, it only takes a minute! I'll still stick with them because Oral-B cannot touch what Sonicare offers in my opinion as someone whose dentist is consistently wowed how much both our dental health has improved the last 6 years using their products.

This works well for my 7 year old, just make sure to buy the smaller replacement heads. I think it works better than the smaller kiddie power toothbrushes as far as cleaning.

Unfortunately the last one didn't survive a year at my house given how often it is dropped on the floor. I bought the cheaper 2100 a couple months ago for my son, we will see how that holds up here. It was the same $30 as this..

How does this compare to the flexcare or more expensive models?

You bought the new model. This deal is for the older version with charging stand and power plug. I'm looking at it right now
Thanks for the details on the power cord. I bought two previously when Best Buy had these in stock. When I went to buy another for the family it was OOS and BBY said they wouldn't carry it anymore.

Will pick one up!

Great price, really decent toothbrush. BY&M, I don't use this one every day, I do brush by hand, but this one is great (and any sonic are really) for those back teeth or front teeth problem areas. For $30, it's great preventative capability to add to proper brushing and flossing.

The average American has a collection of USB-A chargers sitting around unused…maybe you are the rare exception?
That's the same excuse Samsung gave when they removed all chargers from their phones a few years ago.
They forgot to mention that all those old chargers sitting around will take forever to charge your new phones.

It's not a bad toothbrush. If you have a Costco membership, definitely pick up additional heads when on sale.

I wish I could tune the pressure setting to be a little more forgiving instead of reducing power. I hope it won't cause issues in the future.

Pretty sure electric > regular brush so you should be using this over hand brush everyday

Thx OP. Our Sonicare 4100 TB just died & Costco was selling an upgrade version for $160+. We don't need multiple intensities to remove the soft plaque & food.

This isn't unique to the new ones (4100). I've had it happen in all models. Usually it's accelerated by dropping it and it hits directly on that shaft. I'm very also had some just fail/wear out. We have 5 in the house and have probably been using them for 7-8 years at least now.

It's my one gripe about them and why I will no longer by the more expensive diamond clean versions.

Still way better than any other brand brush I've tried.

The current Target sale for the regular 4100 version at the same price might be preferred by some people. In addition to the difference in the charger (ProtectiveClean comes with a traditional charging brick and the regular 4100 comes with a USB cord), the ProtectiveClean is not the same feature-wise. Here's a review highlighting the differences to help you decide which is better for your needs: https://www.electricteeth.com/phi...lean-4100/
