As for the cloud... Well initial setup requires internet, but after that it should work as long as the hub is working. Overall anything voice controlled etc. is gonna require the internet unless you want to spend a lot of time setting up custom stuff.
In general switch control is instant. Voice/app which does require internet (unless maybe you use their app) requires internet which will always lead to lag.
IMO they are far more reliable than the philips hue lights which is the next best reliable smart home lightbulb product in my experience.
Also... these and philips hue have been around long enough I'm reasonably confident they will continue to be supported they both are made by a well respected established company with a decent history of supporting things. I specifically have limited my smart devices to those since they seem the most likely to get continued support. They serve a different purpose... philips hue for when I want color and/or individual bulb control not tied to a circuit. Lutron for white lights and ones I want to ensure stay fully reliable with their hardwiring manual control for safety such as entry way lights.
If you are using the logic of they have only been around 3-4 years very few tech products except iphones would make sense to buy. Which if that is your belief ok... but I am doubtful with that criteria that you will ever purchase anything.
In for one of the motion sensor switches though, been meaning to get something like that for our laundry room.

These lutron devices are pretty much regarded by everyone as the gold standard for smart switches. My only complaint is that the design of the switches is hard to hit in the dark to just turn the dang lights on. I'm used to them, so it's fine for me, but if I have friends over and they go into the bathroom, they are constantly cursing at my switches. The new diva style switches fix that. They're standard paddle switch decora style. And their dimmer is pretty slick. No neutral required, and drop dead easy to put into a 3way situation without replacing both switches or figuring out where the load and line are. Very simple to install.
My solution is just to not let strangers in the house (or people who can't figure out how to use a Caseta dimmer) 😁
Also, Diva didn't exist when I bought this 6 yrs ago

I had to get three PD-5NE for our renovation for a few LED drivers, otherwise I put in about 20 of the much cheaper other variant everywhere else.
You raise very valid points about standards, so I am not sure how you managed to get 15 downvotes 🤣 but yes, while reliable, Lutron uses a proprietary wireless protocol. Standards are converging towards the Matter protocol with most of the major companies (Google, Apple etc.) behind it.

It's probably a better choice for Diva line and Caseta ON/OFF switches only. Probably not a great choice for the original Caseta Dimmer for a remote.
I'll add a quick and much cheaper work-around for those that have a specific application similar to mine. I have an LED tray light in my bedroom that is typically installed with an LED rope light on a switched outlet that is behind the trim in the ceiling. It's in a wall switch gang box with other lights that use Caseta products and I wanted to use the bedside Pico remote for this tray light too. I tried several Caseta dimmers (like the PD-6WCL) and nothing prevented LED flashing and light leakage when the switch was turned off. Even the PD-6ANS didn't work by itself and still had light-leakage while the switch was off. What I ended up doing is using the Caseta PD-6ANS-WH and simply putting a mechanical KASA outlet dimmer (KP115) on the ceiling outlet controlled by the Caseta on/off switch in front of the rope light. I set the dimming level in the Kasa app and use the Pico remote with Caseta switch to turn it on and off. The Kasa remembers the last dimming level (even after it has no power). I've been told that the KASA dimmer solves the flashing/light-leakage when off because it is a mechanical dimmer. Both products have Smart capability so I can turn on the tray light and dim it with voice control (though they need to be separate names).
