They also have a kit with 2 nailers and a stapler for $200. IMO, that's a much better value if you are starting out.

This is a nice compressor... just used it to blow out some water lines for seasonal draining. Ball valve style drain on the bottom of the tank is good. Totally worth the price and not too heavy. 6 gallon tank and 150 PSI makes this very capable for a portable.

6 Gal. 150 PSI Portable Electric Air Compressor, 16-Gauge Nailer, 18-Gauge Nailer and 3/8 in. Staple... [https] a better value ($189 vs $100) since it has 3 tools and hose included?

Aunt Jemima...edit: Pearl Milling Company.

All jokes aside, I have this compressor and it is decent. I wish I had bought a slightly larger wheeled model because I tend to need a larger compressor for stuff around the house or just use my Ryobi inflator when topping off tires, inflating stuff, etc. This seems to fit a still bulky but too small capacity niche I do not really need.

Wild, took me ~2hours to attempt to blow out 4 zones last season, returned and said I'd get a bigger one or call the numbers on the signs off the road if they were ~$10/zone.

I can't imagine this blowing out a zone in one go, I did ~3/zone.

It's a pancake…

As someone mentioned, these are loud at 84dBA but most pancake compressors are. Hearing protection is recommended at 80dBA.

2.6CFM @ 90psi
3.5CFM @ 40psi
3-year warranty on compressors.

There are quieter ones available that actually produce more airflow: HF's Fortress brand is $160, has higher CFM rating, is slightly quieter (81dBA), and comes with one free tool right now, but this Ridgid is still a good deal from a respected brand if you need it right now. Black Friday isn't far off though and those deals often bundle a hose and a nailer/stapler for about the same price, as I recall.

I was shopping for a compressor recently and I went with an old oiled compressor from Rolair over one of these newer pancakes. I had a porter cable pancake for about ten years and I never turned it off and I never drained it. So yeah it was awesome. But it was so loud it would scare the crap out of my family whenever it fired up. So this is a good reminder. Not only are these loud. But I find their frequency to be very abrasive to me ears.

Which one is a better deal?
  1. Porter cable with 3 tools & hose (6 gallon, 150 PSI, 0.8HP, 78Db, 3 yr warranty) for $199
  2. Ridgid with 3 tools & hose (6 gallon, 150 PSI, 1.5HP, 80 Db, 1 yr warranty) for $189
