Metro phones unlock in 6 months even if you only pay for only 1 month. Evidence: 15 prior Metro phone purchases.

I did the metro deal on Friday. Additional $100 gift card promo for paying another 2 months at $45. So all in $250 w/ tax. I'm liking the device. Feels premium and other than metro bloatware ui is snappy and pixelesque.

Cricket also has this price when getting a new line or porting in, requires $60 plan.
Metro by tmobile also has this offer, but requires port in and going to store

Did you go to the store to get the deal? I have heard employees will require you buy insurance, case, charger to hike up the price

Yes, porting in required a visit to the store.i got lucky and snagged the only one in the county so they didn't have any accessories to try to sneak into the transaction. Rep at first tried to put me on a cheaper plan with " required" $10 insurance. I then showed him the promo details on my phone again and he was able to setup the line correctly. I went into it knowing I'd have to be on point to get it setup properly.

Metro doesn't unlock until 6 months of service. I know because I just got one of their phones and am now stuck with their crappy service..
