Have to be honest, that super long reply with absolutely zero specific alternatives makes your entire rant a bit suspect. I mean, you spent all that energy coming up with 3 paragraphs and couldn't even list a single alternative shoe or even a single brand?

You've got 12 pairs of their shoes in the past six years, but now have left them in the dust for .......... ?????

Can't tell if this is an AI post or if you're incredibly talented at burying the lede.

Wear whatever is comfortable for you, everyone has different feet and needs be it running, walking or standing all day at work, personally I like the Mach 4's and 5's for daily training, Cliftons and Rincons for work.

Dang wish these were mens Bondi or Rincon 3. My podiatrist has told me to start wearing one of these. (there were like 3 other options).

I was checking his website

Slowtwitch forums seems to be all about bikes?

https://www.letsrun.com/shoes/rev...ning-shoes has Hoka as #3

Reddit is just always angry and hates everything lol

The most popular discussion forums on the Internet that discuss running and shoes. These websites include Reddit's r/RunningShoeGeeks sub. That sub has 114,000 members. Other major forums include Slowtwitch and Letsrun. These three forums are where you'll find lively and insightful discussions on running shoe trends, technology, and sneak peeks for upcoming models.

My impression from following these forums for the past few years is that the HOKA brand is not held in high regard. Runners by and large are very critical and dismissive of HOKA's shoe lineup. There's a general consensus that the brand has not kept up with recent technological trends in midsole foams and plates. HOKA has also come in for heavy criticism for the lack of longevity their shoes provide and the poor value proposition this presents.

Personally, I have owned over 12 pairs of HOKA shoes since 2017. I used to be a brand loyal devotee. But I have since branched out to other brands and can flatly say that HOKA is just not up to par with the competition. I have two HOKA shoes in my shoe rotation and once I drop them I have no plans to buy another HOKA shoe anytime soon.
Agreeing with MD4645. I'm asking for legitimate review sites like Gearlab, Runner's World or iRunfar who have soured on what is largely regarded as the best trail running shoe brand available.

I for one am cheap, (hence Slickdeals) so I choose from the slightly worse brands like Brooks, Saucony, or Salomon, etc and look for high MSRP shoes that are discounted. I can't afford Hoka. 😂 Anyway, just frustrating because people on here need to be able to trust what's written.

Those three websites are basically independent marketing contractors for shoe companies.

I just don't think he can win either way. If he lists an alternative, some could see him as a shill for another brand thread crapping in a Hoka post. At least his response was more measured and prompted you to do your own homework than just promoting some other brands as an easy alternative.

It's difficult to make a recommendation without knowing the needs of the runner. I would encourage people to try and experiment with shoes from different brands. Try shoes with different foams. Different drops and stacks. With shoes there's value in following a process of elimination to find the right type of shoe.

The shoes I use now are vastly different than the typical CMEVA or Profly based HOKA shoe. HOKA is overly reliant on EVA foam for their product lineup. The major weakness with HOKA is the midsoles. EVA packs out prematurely resulting in a loss of cushioning and rebound. The midsoles in shoes such as the Bondi and Stinson will eventually mould to the runner's foot like the cork in a Birkenstock sandal as the EVA compresses.

Hoka and their crooked parent company Decker Brands simply suck.

I feel like posting an internal employee discount code for Rei employees not meant to be public and then getting that shut down isn't the best example of them sucking.

The top comment there literally says

What is going to be annoying is when all these orders are canceled and all the entitled people come back to cry about how a promo that obviously wasn't meant for them, wasn't honored.

It literally says "Welcome REI Employees." This is a pro-form deal not meant for the general public.

If Hoka comes through and decides to honor it, great... But if not, you really don't have anything to complain about. Honest mistakes happen.

You need to read deeper into the thread to see what shenanigans this company pulled for their precious shoes. Kinda on the level of a sleazy used car lot.

Brunk does this in most Hoka threads it gets old very quickly because it's too obsessive

Which shoe company do you work for? My bet is on Brooks. You are overly anti-Hoka and for some reason can't resist listing all their bad tech.

No casual or even ultra runner for that matter would be this highly specific about what they do wrong, and still absolutely resist listing an alternative.

Why? Because you A. Don't want to give away who you work with and B. would have to list a competitor as "better" and you're not going to do that.

Might be wrong, but that's the only way this makes sense. Your post history pretty much aligns.

Works for a competitor no doubt. Probably in the job description to scour the web and bring these over the top discussions up. It's really not that hard to assess. The lingo is a dead giveaway IMO.

My Hoka was flat after couple months of usage. Returned them.

Its better to buy shoes at 1/3rd the price and change them often.
If you're a Sam's Club member you could have taken them there to have the flat repaired for free.
