FYI I decided to return my ultra 2 watch. Best Buy charged me 32$ for "free" Apple music they automatically added. Just because they emailed me the code. It was ordered as Best Buy "drop".

Thanks OP, snagged an open box listed as "fair" condition for $550 from a location about 45 miles away and used a $75 gift card I have been sitting on. When I arrived the watch looked and functioned perfect despite the condition listed. Killer deal IMO, just returned the red series 8 that was still well within the return window at Target.

do you have any pictures of what a "fair" watch looks like? with how sturdy the ultra watch is, i have a hard time picturing any scratches on the screen or the case to be displayed as "fair" condition? or can you explain what is "fair" about it? thanks

Thats just the thing, there is nothing fair about it and I cannnot see 1 blemish on the watch, it looks like the stock photos of a new watch. The box was opened and had best buy tape on it- im guessing it was a return but the watch itself was perfect with all accessories, etc. My thought was if I drive to pick it up and it looks rough i will just refuse pickup/process the return on the spot (I declined the best buy free apple fitness etc. stuff at checkout just in case that would happen).

thanks for the explanation.. now im tempted. theres a ultra watch 2 open box - good for 622.99 near me. i will go check it out in store tomorrow to see how it looks. i doubt black friday deals will be that great on the ultra watch 2. if it looks brand new tomorrow, i will probably bite on the open box deal.

It's amazing how random the rating is for best buy open box. Picked up an open box Ultra in excellent condition that came with a ton of scratches. Returned that and picked up an Ultra 2 in good condition and it was flawless.

So I went to my BestBuy today to see the open box ultra watch 2 for 622.99 in open-box good condition. After opening the package, the watch was immaculate and the band showed no signs of use or wear. Traded in my series 7 for an additional $135 off. For all of you, keep an eye out for the open box deals. I am so happy with this find. Even the BestBuy worker helping me with the trade-in was surprised after I told him how much I paid for it.

Interestingly, the stainless steel ones are also $800 new, and Woot! was selling the gold stainless steel S7 for $278 recently (Refurbished, Like New). If this Ultra 1 goes to $400 by this time next year, I may "upgrade" from my S8. I feel like you're right and $600 is where it belongs before year end.
