Yeah, you're right for distance tournaments and for beach casting. They have all the space they need and they do allot of lateral rotation of rod and long leaders to get those long rods to load. I fish crowded piers often the rod usually must move in a vertical plane, so 9' is my max effective length. But yeah you're right about the physics.

As someone already mentioned, garden hose...but be sure to rinse entire rod and reel from all directions and the reel especially good and extra thoroughly from all directions. Penn is great name in reels, so if you treat is well, it will last a long time.

Has anyone order the 6' 6" PENN Spinfisher VI Fishing Rod and Reel Spinning Combo and received the correct item? I ordered on back in November, they sent me the 8 foot version. I returned it, purchased it again. Walmart sent me another 8 foot version, I asked for a replacement, they sent me another 8 foot version. Walmart has a bunch of idiots working for them!
