For verizon phone, no need to keep the line open for 60 days,
1. you can activate the phone on new line
2. Pay off the phone via customer service or in cash at verizon corporate store.
corporate stores are inclined not to take payment in cash. they may be aware of what folks are doing . thus they try to make it hard for you.
if corporate store denies u. politely but firmly insist u spoke with rep of verizon. and they assured u this can be done in corporate store. if still denied, ask for manager. if still denied, go to another corporate store.
3. cancel the line within 3 days and no activation fee . Pro-rated charges for line for 1-2 days only. do not worry about what bill says.
4. Phone will be automatically unlocked in 60 days. No matter you use it on existing VZN line or keep it in drawer . even if u r no longer a customer , since u cancelled in three days. the phone will still unlock.
5. new customer, there will be a credit pull .most likely hard. existing customer. most likely a soft credit pull. remember this is post paid service.
6. if existing customer. consider: adding a line. then follow steps above, u can also simply port out the line u opened up. effectively cancelling the line. and not effect the other lines
share my experience from sd user.
I am not a current Verizon customer.
I ordered from Walmart Sunday (10/29) night.
Tax was $3 and change.
Phone arrived today (10/31 tuesday).
Activation was easy and basically completed by the phone itself with a new number.
I then set up an account on Verizon.com.
There already a bill in the system for a little more than $120 for activation, month of service and taxes.
Next bill estimate showed about $80.
After playing with the phone a few hours, I contacted Verizon by chat to cancel the account to make sure I am not charged an activation fee and so that Verizon only bills me the prorated use amount for 1 day.
Long story short, Verizon waived the activation fee, charged the full $36 for the phone and gave me a random credit that did not cover most of the monthly fee and taxes.
I think at first, they wanted a total of about $70 ($36 plus like $34 in fees).
I told the representative that made no sense given that I am cancelling the account within 1 day so the prorated cost should be about 3 or 4 dollars at most.
Chat representative gave me the run around but started applying what appeared to be random discounts.
At the end of the chat and subsequent follow up phone call, I was able to get the service fee reduced from $34 to $0.
Frankly, this was more trouble than it was worth.
Given that Verizon's unlock policy automatically unlocks the phone upon purchase (as opposed to activation), I expect this phone will unlock in 60 days

Came back home and disconnected the line after chatting with customer service and asked them to remove the line immediately from my account with immediate effect. They did it. Next bill estimate showing $6 for that cancelled line. So final cost of the phone will be $42. Have to wait for 60 days now to have it unlocked

u want to have a minimum $1 so the installment plan is in effect
to add:
1. why is the estimate showing as $6?
shldn't it be $1 [$36 less the $35 u paid = $1] ? why/where the extra $5 come from?
2. [not that it matters, but...] what u say to rep as reason for cancellation, since u just added it?

---Verizon will charge you prorated for 1 day of service . They will add fees. So estimate showing around $6. I left $1 for installment as paid $35 at Walmart store. So Verizon let me cancelled the line without paying $1. Chat rep told me that $1 will be added in bill as buyout. Line is already roved from account .

-- just told..don't need the line. So please cancel . Rest of my account will stay as is. He did not ask any other questions

A53 is twice as cheap as S22, and has larger battery (A53: 5000mAh vs S22: 3700mAh). One of my concerns is the lag that always comes to an Android after some time of using it. I know that S22 series are definitely better with performances. My issue is that I do not like these bigger phones and S22 has 6.1" screen which is a big plus for me, while A53 has 6.5" screen. I also love the physical design of S22, but it's not so important because it would be in protective mask. Also my next concern is the small battery in S22. 3700mAh just sounds too bad for a phone which costs around 650€ and it is the only reason why am I considering A53 model.
I would like to buy a phone that I will use for the next 4 years. I basically use my phone to read, go online now and then, listen to music and to take photos.
Cons: Exynos 1280 is worse than Snapdragon 778G & 8Gen 1
Why is Samsung Galaxy A53 5G better than Samsung Galaxy S22?

6.56% bigger screen size?
6.5"vs6.1"
3.2x more megapixels (front camera)?
32MPvs10MP

I am eligible to upgrade on one of my lines but whenever I sign in from Walmart's page to my Verizon account I get this error :
"We are unable to retrieve your account data. Please try again later"
Was this why you added a new line instead of upgrading?
I'm a Verizon customer. I did an upgrade because it said I'm eligible for one (and I also processed a new line scenario which cost over$100+). At the bottom is the result of the upgrade. But here are my questions:
1) Is the deal $36 for final cost? ($1/mo for 36 months)
2) I need to payoff the $36 somehow/somewhere (how?) within 3 days of activation?
3) To rid of the $35 activation fee, I need to cancel this line within 3 days of activation by text or phone?
4) But if I cancel, I will have a $36 phone but without my current #/phone service. Right?
5) To process this upgrade, the final cost of this phone will be $71 (36+35) not $36. Is this correct?
6) If I want to swap in my current SIM, I should go the new line option, correct?
Thanks for all clarification and help!

$36 is a great price given this will receive android 16 and additional year of security updates. What bums me is 6gb RAM. I have not used a device with low RAM in past 5-6 years and if I use this am daily driver I will be stuck with this for another 3 years with low RAM.
I do play PPSSPP EMULATOR and Game pass on my OnePlus 8. Really appreciate some feedback here.
the OP8 is still marginally more powerful than this A53 that uses an Exynos chip but it can still play PPSSPP just fine, the emulator is rather lightweight and very optimized
but playing GC or PS2 it will struggle more than the OP8
nonetheless most reviews do say it can be a bit laggy, should be a phone for someone who is not going to push it hard

On top of that, they signed us up for some cloud back-up service that was going to renew automatically after a free month. This is all after we explicitly told them "NO ADD-ONs, NO TRIALS!". I reported the store this happened at, but I'm starting to think this is actual corporate strategy...
