Consumer spending is down, inflation has destroyed the middle class discretionary spending money.

The 990 Pro is faster by quite a bit, but FYI to anyone interested, Amazon has a $25 coupon on the Crucial P5 Plus 2TB, bringing it to $90. It looks like its lowest ever is $88.

hows this compared to WD SN850X?
I love samsung storange and have owned several, but their 980 and 990 has had firmware issues. I was deciding between the 2 but ultimately I went with the WD SN850X. (I had a 980 that die on me because of firmware issues). Apparently the same firmware issue also occured on the 990. You would have thought they would have learned their lesson. I'm sure they have fixed it by now, but it doesn exactly inspire much confidence.

Okay. thanks. I'm new to this site so I appreciate the reply instead of all the thumbs down. I just assumed that timeline is for the same device.

It's fixed. I have 3 of these and no issues at all.

the good news is that the firmware update stops the accelerated decline of 990 Pro health. But the bad news is that it doesn't fix the damage that has already hit 990 Pros. "The S.M.A.R.T. values are not reset to factory defaults after updating the firmware,"

My motherboard doesn't come with the screws for installing nvme ssd so I might potentially have to buy that seperately. What size screw is used? Is there a standard size or does it just depend on what motherboard?

I see the same price on the bestbuy website (may require TT membership). It's worth buying and seeing if the price comes down by BF.
