Consumer spending is down, inflation has destroyed the middle class discretionary spending money.

I bought this 2 TB drive December 2022 for $289.99. It's insane how much these SSDs have dropped in price. Though, that is the cost of buying cutting edge tech.

I'm seeing $100 for the non heatsink one. Is the heatsink worth getting for extra $20?

legit143My motherboard doesn't come with the screws for installing nvme ssd so I might potentially have to buy that seperately. What size screw is used? Is there a standard size or does it just depend on what motherboard?

hows this compared to WD SN850X?
One difference is if you want to use hardware encryption with Windows Bitlocker, 990 Pro supports it but SN850X does not. You can use Bitlocker still but just using software encryption but according to Tom's, it results in slower performance:

Bought the 980 w/heat shield yesterday for $129. Just returned it and bought the 990 via this deal. Better price and performance, plus a $10 Staples credit for dropping off the return at Staples. YES!

Take it from me, unless you need this NOW, it will only be dropping more in the near future. Look at SSD prices over the past year for a trend line.
No, prices are guaranteed to go up soon since Samsung is cutting the production. We may enter a similar phase that we have with cars.
