You'll be fine. They're changing the controllers next year, perhaps for the better perhaps for the worst. But the new system is just a series x without the drive it will be able to use all of the same controllers that the current series X can use (which includes the previous gen controllers). Backwards compatibility is one of the things Microsoft is doing very well at least ❤️

Thanks, spent an extra $3 for the 2-year walmart protection plan. God knows how many controllers I have went through in the past 7 years. Saw the 3 year option for $5. Think I saw somewhere on Reddit saying every time you replace it, you will pay the warranty again. I know this is definitely going to fail in 2 years. Plus they say you can renew the plan at the current price when 2 year is done. Anyone can confirm this?
Got these in the same deal a few days ago. Love the feel of the newer design, i had some classic Xbox Wireless controllers, and these feel like an upgrade.

To show how backwards compatible Xbox controllers are. The Xbox One (the one released in 2013), you can still use those controllers on the Series S/X.
You can actually use the 360 controllers but you need to buy an adapter.
