Single Player Campaign: You are Gordon Freeman, a theoretical physicist at the Black Mesa Research Facility. When a routine experiment goes horribly wrong, you must fight your way through an interdimensional alien invasion, and a bloodthirsty military clean-up crew in order to save the science team... and the world!
Hey, I'm glad to hear you must have woken up from the year long coma you've been in! You'll be ecstatic to hear that 2023 has actually been the greatest single year of gaming ever and will probably remain that way for a very long time.
Hi-Fi Rush
Dead Space
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty
Octopath Traveller II
Star Wars Jedi Survivor
Resident Evil 4
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Street Fighter 6
Final Fantasy XVI
Pikmin 4
Baldur's Gate III
Armored Core VI
Starfield
Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty
Spider-Man 2
Super Mario Bros. Wonder
Alan Wake II
That's just *some* of the biggest titles, not counting indie stuff, and we haven't even hit November yet. If nothing on that list interests you, you may want to consult your physician because you are still in the coma.
Great soundtrack, and my recommendation as the best way to experience Half Life 1

Man this was simpler time. Just kid on his computer playing this game like reading a good book. Now it's all online crap that I don't even bother with.

Playing this game ATM and really enjoying it. Half-life fan since HL2. This is a throwback, and even with the remastering, graphically it's not quite as good as HL2; but the remastering definitely added some high fidelity, as in you can read trivial stuff off the posters on the walls and what not. Everything is just more detailed.
Paid $5 last year, and barely getting around to it now. Playing with a 4060. Love it.
Considering its source engine is from 2004 I'm sure your phone can run it.
Basically it is different than the original in someway. Different sound tracks, level tweaks, whole new levels for XEN--etc. It is a well done remake by fans that for the longest time was not for profit (I played the first several levels when it was a mod). I'd scoop it up as a more enjoyable way to play the original half-life--but I would recommend keeping your childhood glasses on for the experience.
I own Black Mesa on Steam. I thought the improvements from the definitive edition was a free upgrade to that. Is that not correct? Is there a reason to buy the definitive edition if you own the standard one?

Only thing good on that list is 2 remakes i.e. title from the past, don't hate because you didn't participate in better times.

I think I bought the original, when I opened the steam app on my phone the OP link goes to the definitive edition and the app says I already own it.
If you were a fan of the original half-life game, you will enjoy this. Yes it is still a "rail" game, and not open world like modern games, but that's ok. The improvements are really nice.
It's still definitely worth the time to play it through (probably last you no more than two weeks of casual play). The Black Mesa team really did justice to this relaunch.

Played Hi-Fi rush, shovelware.
I was thinking the same after reading the list, lol.
Having sadly been in the game since the Atari 2600 days, there are a number of years that were far more amazing.
Back on topic: Half life was a revolutionary title at the time of release. Awesome that valve gave their blessing and the result was a phenomenal piece that improved just about everything on it.

Who's hating? Pointing out that this year has been packed for single player games to a guy claiming there's nothing but "online crap" is the opposite of hating.
I've been gaming since the Atari 2600 days, lived through all the years regularly held up as some of the best: 1998, 2001, 2007, 2017 and to be sure some of my favorite games of all time came out of those years, but I can't fathom having lived through all of that and somehow thinking games peaked in 1998. If you can't find anything you like nowadays then you've just lost interest in games in general.

I'm still waiting to find out where Gordan Freeman is at. And who the man in black works for.
