These have an EVA foam sole. I don't inherently hate foam soles as they are comfortable on a $25 pair of Skechers or Hey Dudes, but having foam soles on Birkenstocks is antithetical with the cork midsole and leather of original Birkenstocks.

The whole reason people like them is that they take the shape of your foot, and they are normally extremely long lived.

With a foam sole, the shoe will be wearing out just as the cork footbed starts to take your form. You will also have significantly worse traction than rubber soles. There's nothing cheap about these. You'd have to buy 3 or more pairs to try to equal the amount of miles a rubber sole would give. Meanwhile, the rubber sole wearer is enjoying their worn in cork footbed shaped to their foot while the foam soled fools are breaking in a new pair.

Wow that's super sad that Birkenstocks is selling so many EVA soles now. I'm not surprised as Rose Anvil on Youtube has shown that Birkenstocks is a very shady company at this point that cuts cost at every corner and uses deceptive practices like veneering cork over poor quality midsoles. It is also sad that Birkenstocks, like much of the clothing industry, takes women for fools by utilizing generally more inferior materials for the women's line compared to the men's line.

I just searched really quickly, but here's a model with a PU, or polyurethane, sole. It's extremely durable, but has a little less traction than rubber. Still a good choice. It comes in other colors if you don't like the look. Basically choose any model. Scroll down to materials, and look for PU outsoles instead of EVA.

Some may also say "rubber EVA" which is an EVA foam midsole with a thin rubber outsole like on this men's model:

Thanks, grabbed a pair of Men's Milano vegan for same price (list $110). These are rarely on sale for such a steep discount.

couple of things to note:
  • Shipping is not free; it's $5 (at least for a single pair)
  • Shipping charges are not refundable if you return
Still a good deal for some of those.

Which pair do you recommend then? Seems like ever pair has the EVA outsole

These shouldn't be used in a shower. Get crocs or "Birken-crocs" EVA shoes

I was gifted two pairs of their Arizona Essentials EVA model. I've liked them for wearing around the house and they've helped with my plantar faciitis from hardwood floors (and a tiiiiny bit of weight gain...just a tiny bit). And they're perfectly adequate for short trips outside in the summer. But they're definitely showing wear and I don't expect them to last for a year (they're "Essentials", after all, so I get it). And just the other day it sprinkled while I was on a walk and I could feel two blisters forming on the bottoms of my feet from the sliding back and forth after barely half a mile. Surprised me at how quickly that happened as I rarely get blisters otherwise.

Still, I'd love to try out one of their legit cork and leather versions bases on my relatively positive experiences with their basic line.

the OG cork + leather version is miles more comfortable and durable than the EVA models. But you really can't get the OG wet beyond a veeery light sprinkle.

The ones that Rose Anvil showed having a veneer of cork are not the Birkenstocks. It was the cheap imitations.
Having said that, I've read that ever since this company was bought by LVMH, quality has taken a nose dive. I just ordered a few pairs from their website and every pair had a defect.

The one I saw were Birkenstocks. They were three new Birkenstock boot offerings. All poorly made in some way. Old Birkenstocks ot the newer models with rubber or TPU are still legit.

I'm sorry to hear about your shoes, but it's obvious from the material they are trying to sell women at $200 MSRP that they don't care about being the legendary value company that they used to be. Its still pretty easy to find some rubber soles in the men's line, but they are screwing women over.

It's about $85 here in seattle to have these resoled with vibram rubber soles. Best option if you get these eva soles worn down quickly or just want better traction.
