Product Details:
- THXยฎ Certified Ultra: THXยฎ engineers completed hundreds of different scientific tests to ensure the highest audio performance possible. The tests ensure the speaker can reach the high volumes necessary to achieve THX Reference Level, without creating audible distortion or artifacts. THXยฎ Certified Ultra products are designed for large rooms, up to 3,000 cubic feet in size, with a 10~12 foot viewing distance from the screen.
- 13" Woofer: The Monolithโข 13" driver was developed from the ground up, with a design focus on achieving output, accuracy, dynamics, and linearity, while minimizing distortion. It is enclosed in a cabinet made from HDF material, with massive internal bracing, and outfitted with three ports that can use foam plugs to run the subwoofer in sealed, semiโsealed, or ported mode, as you see fit.
- 2000 Watt Amplifier: The 2000โwatt (RMS) amplifier (3800+โwatt peak) is built around a Texas Instrumentsยฎ 48โbit data path, with 28โbit filter coefficients, and DSP engine. Each amplifier's transfer function, power output limiting, and thermal protection are monitored to the millisecond and are customized for each individual driver. The high efficiency Class D amplifier modules are based on a proven topology that has been continuously refined over the past 8 years. The amplifier has vast reserves of power for highly accurate, deep bass for your home theater or music system.

edit: hmm...funny how the 2 reviewers bought 15" previously then bought the 13". I guess it's not to bad pairing 13" and 15" since they perform about the same. just 13" has more impact due to 2000 watts.
Currently I have a Dayton Ultimax 18" with a 3000 watt crown amp and even though it has crazy output it doesn't sound nearly as good as the 13" monolith especially for music. The monolith has tighter and more musical mid and lower bass.
At this price this is the easy choice!
Keep in mind as some have pointed out in here their CS isn't great, hope you get a good one(know 3 that didn't) & returning is a PITA you pay return shipping.

Although, if the amp goes out, could get a crown external amp. The enclosure and driver are still excellent.
You're seriously playing roulette by purchasing one of these subs with only a 90-day warranty. Because IF you're lucky and it fails within 90 days (which isn't a long period), you'll have to ship this super-heavy beast back to Monoprice to get your money back. If there are no other open-box M13s, you probably won't be able to get a replacement.
If it fails after 90 days (which, sadly, is not an unlikely event), will you even be able to get a replacement amp out-of-warranty? I can't seem to find any answers to this. Does Monoprice do out-of-warranty service? How much does it cost? Can you get it done via a third party? If so, I bet it wouldn't be cheap.
Again, not thread crapping. I would probably buy two of these if they came with a 5-year warranty (regardless of the risk of failure and hassle of Monoprice's return policy). I'm just advocating for people googling the amp issues and make an informed decision on what they're getting themselves into.
One last thing - I mentioned Monoprice's exchange process being a hassle. For the past several years, MP required the customer to ship the subwoofer back to MP. Apparently some people have reported that MP will send replacement amps out as recently as this year. That has not been the case for me during my recent M12 v2 RMA. Support has been professional and responsive, but they said that once the subwoofer gets back in stock in mid-to-late November, I would likely have to ship the subwoofer to them before they send me the replacement. This thing is heavy and it is upstairs. Not going to be fun sending it back.
