My friend that works at monoprice told me about this deal and has confirmed that most of the subs on this sale are in fact new items. Monoprice are simply trying to meet sale quotas before the end of year. That explains why so many in stock!

I wish they would sell out so I could stop considering these.

As someone whose Monolith 12 v2 amp died after 15 months and is currently going through an RMA process, I wouldn't touch this with a 10 foot pole. If it had the full 5 year warranty, it would be tempting.

I thought monoprice said even open box comes with 5 yr warranty. so tempted but got a single 15" monoprice (which to be honest is enough). makes more sense to save for new avr that will have dirac art license option (rumored to be coming to other manufacturers). either dirac art will magically smooth out 1 sub or make me realize I need a 2nd sub...

edit: hmm...funny how the 2 reviewers bought 15" previously then bought the 13". I guess it's not to bad pairing 13" and 15" since they perform about the same. just 13" has more impact due to 2000 watts.
Yep if you see under item description when you click the link they added the 90 day warranty info. The way I see it even if the amp were to go out after 90 days. The quality woofer and sub box are worth the $585. That woofer can easily be set up with an external power amplifier.

Currently I have a Dayton Ultimax 18" with a 3000 watt crown amp and even though it has crazy output it doesn't sound nearly as good as the 13" monolith especially for music. The monolith has tighter and more musical mid and lower bass.

I'm guessing this is a massive bump in output from my SVS PB2000?
Having experience with both they are comparable, both are very good.
At this price this is the easy choice!

Keep in mind as some have pointed out in here their CS isn't great, hope you get a good one(know 3 that didn't) & returning is a PITA you pay return shipping.

A few months ago they had the open-box M-15 V2 15in THX Certified Ultra 1000-Watt Powered Subwoofer [https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=42851] for about the same price. Does anyone know how this compares? 13" 2000W vs 15" 1000W. But what about sound to include for music?

prior I had svs 12" cone one. I wanted to try the monolith. monolith 15" is awesome. goes lower. but I do highly recommend svs. their customer service is awesome. svs replaced my amp during warranty. then gave me 2 drivers when I was out of warranty. 2nd time free of charge. unfortunately I think it was an amp problem that kept blowing out the driver. that is why I replaced with monoprice. but I never bought a open box monolith so not sure about how it is.

Although, if the amp goes out, could get a crown external amp. The enclosure and driver are still excellent.

I am not trying to crap on this deal, but I highly recommend everyone search google for the failure rate of the amps on monolith subwoofers, and also research the return/exchange process. There are tons of threads about monoprice subwoofer amp failures on AVSforums and Reddit. The topic is so common that people on AVSforums seem to be kind of salty everytime someone creates a new thread about their Monolith subs not working or making weird noises, like "have you even searched this topic?".

You're seriously playing roulette by purchasing one of these subs with only a 90-day warranty. Because IF you're lucky and it fails within 90 days (which isn't a long period), you'll have to ship this super-heavy beast back to Monoprice to get your money back. If there are no other open-box M13s, you probably won't be able to get a replacement.

If it fails after 90 days (which, sadly, is not an unlikely event), will you even be able to get a replacement amp out-of-warranty? I can't seem to find any answers to this. Does Monoprice do out-of-warranty service? How much does it cost? Can you get it done via a third party? If so, I bet it wouldn't be cheap.

Again, not thread crapping. I would probably buy two of these if they came with a 5-year warranty (regardless of the risk of failure and hassle of Monoprice's return policy). I'm just advocating for people googling the amp issues and make an informed decision on what they're getting themselves into.

One last thing - I mentioned Monoprice's exchange process being a hassle. For the past several years, MP required the customer to ship the subwoofer back to MP. Apparently some people have reported that MP will send replacement amps out as recently as this year. That has not been the case for me during my recent M12 v2 RMA. Support has been professional and responsive, but they said that once the subwoofer gets back in stock in mid-to-late November, I would likely have to ship the subwoofer to them before they send me the replacement. This thing is heavy and it is upstairs. Not going to be fun sending it back.

That's a good tip. Why crown specifically?
