you can make a bypass button; use as bookmark on phone and computer.
Mine is like this:
http://pi.hole/admin/api.php?disable=60&auth=

Disables pihole for 60 secs.
Your auth would need to be generated.

If you are buying this to run services or desktop replacement, just go with an Intel n95 or n100 mini pc. They are still 2x faster than the pi 5 and 4-5x faster than pi 4. By the time you buy a case and storage and power supply for the pi 5, you could just have a better mini pc that runs windows or any Linux version and you don't have to buy more for it.

Kinda defeats pihole if you whitelist tracking urls.

Needs a temporary bypass button instead.
Unfortunately the most painless solution is to whitelist the domain. If you want protection for anything that gets through, you can use uBlock Origin on a browser. For blocked redirect, uBlock prompts you to Continue Anyway.

what are these even good for nowadays
If you're looking for desktop replacement, plenty of alternative out there.

If you're looking for a headless server solution and care about power consumption, Pi's are great for that. Examples are network file servers, pihole, and things that run as background tasks that remoting in is fine for. Sometimes you don't need to power a full PC 24/7 for that.

Pihole - you'll be thankful to have one!
luo2010is 8g worth?
trying to upgrade my pi to run pi-hole and teslamate.
I run pihole on a 3B+ with only 1GB of RAM, this is overkill for pihole alone.

5 needs active cooling or a big heatsink.
It is optional. For most use cases, you won't need one.

Pihole worked for a while on my Pi1 B+ but the web interface was slow and I got a lot of errors in the log.

On a Pi 3 I can use the web interface smoothly and log is not loaded with performance errors.
