I received iPhone 13 today from walmart..
After inserting the SIM card and activating it, I chatted with Verizon.
The first agent refused the payoff and said it would be possible in 14 days.
The second agent sent me the URL right away and I paid $299.
Then I cancel line. I need 60days for unlock.

I tried to do it with an iPhone 14 in walmart.com when I saw this deal. It asked me to login to my Verizon (I'm with vzn), and asked for permission to pull credit. I declined. I think anything with a payment plan will need a credit check.

Though this is 36 months contract , but once you activate the line, you can pay off it via chat rep or in cash in verizon store . Once phone is paid , you can cancel the line with in 3 days to avoid activation / upgrade fees. Wait for 60 days to unlock the device.

THIS IS NOT MONTHLY CREDITS. AMOUNT FINANCED will be $299 or $99 , depends which phone you select.

So pretty much I can transfer the new number to any carrier like mint or boost mobile after paying it off? That will automatically cancel the Verizon line?
Yes, porting out automatically cancels your line.

what u say is reasonable.
i wouldnt do any port, cancellation while phone is in transit

i would stick to verizon.
i would try to pay off in version store with exact amount of cash.
V store may push back, i would be firm polite and push back harder.

since this is a future deal, many unknows,
consider reading the below thread (i know, 10+ more pages to read)
of current deal that is very similar, practically identical.
lots of good info , tips of what worked and what dint etc, there.
too many for me to keep track of.
i am not scheduled to participate in either.
just watching from sideline

Thanks for pointing to that thread. there is a lot of information there. I had one question. In that thread, everyone has been advised to payoff in the store, by cash. In this thread, it seems like payoff is possible by calling cutomer service (and so possibly by other payments methods). Am I correct in that assumption. Thanks

My understanding is. Best to pay off in the store. I know in that thread it's only $36. In this thread is 300. So someone might want to use a credit card for example. I get that. But again I have no opinion one way or another whatever works is what you should go with. It seems like paying in store with cash has been the best method to this point from the last four or five threads that I read regarding this type of promotion. Once again remember this promotion hasn't even started yet

Starting at $299 with the retail price of $779? Can't find a $779 model - don't tell me that's 64GB...
Nevermind, 13 doesn't have a 64GB model.

Can we trade these phones (once unlocked) for iPhone 15 trade-in deal to T-Mobile?
You can trade in the phone even before it is unlocked. You just need to pay it off.

I did similar deal from previous SD thread many years ago
- Verizon iphone SE from bestbuy

almost same as this WIKI instruction.

1. get the phone with installation postpaid plan. (since it is postpaid, credit check required)
2. pay off the phone day 1
3. cancel the phone # by porting out to other carrier within 3 days to avoid activation fee

the result is I got a unlock phone right away at discount price
---> At that time, Verizon iphone is unlock right away.

plus I was blacklisted by Verizon. I realized that when next year I tried to get verizon deal by using my SSN. it won't pass even my credit score is 800+

so beware to be banned later day by verizon

thats strange. every time you post deal for verizon postpaid like this and every time have to explain all steps to the folks out there. i am not sure , if they are all new and never seen these deals or they just donot want to do some research on their own.

for verizon phone, no need to keep the line open for 60 days,
1. you can activate the phone on new line
2. pay off the phone via customer service or in cash at verizon corporate store
3. cancel the line within 3 days and no activation fee . pro-rated charges for line for 1-2 days only.
4. phone will be automatically unlocked in 60 days. no matter you use it on existing vzn line or keep it in drawer .

i hope no more question around this.

If I need to use the iPhone 13 during the 2-month unlock period and I don't mind paying the $35 activation fee, is my best option to port out the new line (e.g. to us mobile)? Thanks!

Why ? AT&T seems straightforward too, but hidden potential problems ?

Wondering why not AT&T myself - Need to use mine on AT&T with corporate plan paid by my employer, so being locked to AT&T is not a problem.

Carful it's Walmart which means if it leaves their facility then it wont be scanned and you will have a non unlockable phone in your possession. This happened to me with an AT&T iPhone 13 mini, shipped from a Walmart warehouse on Postpaid installment. Walmart never scanned the phone so the AT&T system never saw the phones imei enter it. Therefore it can be activated but not unlocked since the "Preactivated line" is not able to be activated due to the missing scan.
Were you still charged for the phone?

From what I've heard. Verizon seems pretty easy. With AT&T I think you need to contact them somehow. Once again, I have no experience with either, but just based on my reading it looks like Verizon may be the user way to go.
