I received iPhone 13 today from walmart..
After inserting the SIM card and activating it, I chatted with Verizon.
The first agent refused the payoff and said it would be possible in 14 days.
The second agent sent me the URL right away and I paid $299.
Then I cancel line. I need 60days for unlock.

I tried to do it with an iPhone 14 in walmart.com when I saw this deal. It asked me to login to my Verizon (I'm with vzn), and asked for permission to pull credit. I declined. I think anything with a payment plan will need a credit check.

Though this is 36 months contract , but once you activate the line, you can pay off it via chat rep or in cash in verizon store . Once phone is paid , you can cancel the line with in 3 days to avoid activation / upgrade fees. Wait for 60 days to unlock the device.

THIS IS NOT MONTHLY CREDITS. AMOUNT FINANCED will be $299 or $99 , depends which phone you select.

This just appeared in FP for me. However, Verizon currently has a promotion for new lines: Free, after credits, for iPhone 14 Plus. No trade in required. Basic Unlimited Welcome plan.

I also think most states have a law about the 3 days.
For those buying online (source FTC): Types of Sales the Rule Doesn't Cover
Some types of sales can't be canceled, even if they occur in places that the Cooling-Off Rule normally covers. The Rule doesn't cover sales that are…made entirely online, by mail, or telephone

Not saying it won't work but that the carriers may be legally covered in rejecting your request by law. They still may refund for this if they want to or for other reasons.

When you order a new phone from us, it will be ready to activate when you turn it on. Simply follow the steps on your screen to complete activation and set up your iPhone®, Android™ or prepaid device. (VERIZON WEBSITE) should get my device Tuesday. 299$ and Tax was $24~ will activate by turning device on possibly in front of Verizon COMPANY store or just before, wait a few min, pay off (may need cash) make sure to get receipt for records, if this doesn't work call chat support and try or do another store. Then call chat and cancel the plan. Since phone is already paid off, will unlock in 60 days on Verizon. Keep RECORDS/RECEIPTS JUST INCASE. Will update.

I'm baffled how this post is popular.
Because it's a great price for a still very capable iPhone?

You can port a number in with these deals correct?

Thinking about just porting into Att for 60 days and then porting out. I have the chase offer for 75 back after two monthly payments so service would be about 35 bucks a month.

And because it can be unlocked. Most other iPhone deals appear good on the surface but once you step foot outside of North America you will be stuck with crazy roaming charges or most likely no service at all. There are so many cheap/free eSIMs nowadays practically covering the whole world that it makes no sense to buy a phone locked for 2-3 years no matter how cheap.

The receipt from WM included the Walmart-Contract - which states if the carrier service is cancelled within 14 days the device must be returned.

Month-to-Month CarrierService Contract.
I understand that I must sign a separate month-to-month service contract with a wireless carrier such as AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile, etc. Cancellation or Change of Service WITHIN 14 DAYS. I understand that if I cancel, suspend, disconnect, deactivate or change the terms of the service contract with the carrier within 14 days from the date of service activation, I agree to return the Device in accordance with the terms stated in the returns section above.

I contacted VZ customer support and was told I would not be able to pay off the $299 until 11/23/2023

Anyone have any experience returning phones at Walmart? I'll need to return mine that I purchased yesterday when the system was glitching and didn't give me the sale price (I know it's my fault for not paying attention I was in the middle of doing something and was rushing through the process - I'll know for next time)

Paying off the phone completes the service contract

I got one through ATT. I put a $90 down payment and Walmart ended up charging me $174+ tax. ATT shows $90 Down payment and owing $209 on the installment plan. So beware! Should be fun getting Walmart to correct this!

I won't jump to this deal...but I really want to see what will happen when folks start getting the phones then try paying off and cancel the service....
Interesting that SD'er who work for Verizon or ATT are aware of this...and they expect a huge wave of people cancelling and paying off the phone...
