I received iPhone 13 today from walmart..
After inserting the SIM card and activating it, I chatted with Verizon.
The first agent refused the payoff and said it would be possible in 14 days.
The second agent sent me the URL right away and I paid $299.
Then I cancel line. I need 60days for unlock.

I tried to do it with an iPhone 14 in walmart.com when I saw this deal. It asked me to login to my Verizon (I'm with vzn), and asked for permission to pull credit. I declined. I think anything with a payment plan will need a credit check.

Though this is 36 months contract , but once you activate the line, you can pay off it via chat rep or in cash in verizon store . Once phone is paid , you can cancel the line with in 3 days to avoid activation / upgrade fees. Wait for 60 days to unlock the device.

THIS IS NOT MONTHLY CREDITS. AMOUNT FINANCED will be $299 or $99 , depends which phone you select.

I purchased vzw version with a new plan on 11/8, received email from vzw on 11/9 and setup online account. On the same day I tried to pay off in corporate store with cash before receiving the phone in the mail.
First they said no I have to wait 14-30 days to pay off. Showed them the their own documentation and CS chat that I can pay it off early. Then they "tried" and said it didn't work and went back to saying I have to wait 14-30 days.

Do you think the in-store cash payment might not of worked because I don't have the phone yet and this can't activate it?
Look at my posts. A CS agent via phone call found a spot to allow me to make the $299 buy out. It seemed legit. She read to me that once this is done they can't revert back to the $8/mo payment. And I verified I no longer have the $8ish device charge on my next bill which you can see in your account. I'm going to cancel the account now. FYI my phone shipped today and won't arrive until Saturday.

Sounds like many of us are getting to the same point - phone paid off but not yet received and service not yet cancelled. I may just wait till i have the phone in my hand and can make a call before i cancel the service. Eating the $35 activation fee is better than being stuck with a locked phone.

I placed my order for the Verizon version on November 8th 4:40 PM central time. I got the e-mail from Walmart with estimated delivery date of Saturday, November 11th. I tried creating an account on Verizon using the phone number given to me from the Walmart page, but it did not work. I was able to create an account via my e-mail but no luck when trying to add the mobile number. The Walmart purchase has you sign an agreement with Verizon which gives a Transaction #, Application #, and Contract #, but none of those can be referenced from the Verizon Phone Rep. I called about 22 hours after making the purchase and the phone rep still cannot locate any account even with the phone number I gave him from Verizon during the purchase. This leads me into thinking the contract doesn't actually start until you receive the phone and activate the sim card.
I have the exact same situation, tried exactly the same steps. my best guess right now is that it at least needs to be shipped with an actual tracking number

Well chat was a waste. Incompetent CS they couldn't see the IMEI for my phone whereas I can simply see it on my account so I ended that. I'll call in tomorrow. I just want to make sure:
1. The phone was activated
2. Reverify the phone is paid off
3. I can port out the phone number.

I couldn't create my account with my phone number until Walmart showed the phone shipped. Prior to that it wouldn't let me.

after call and chat, and supervisors involved there isn't a way to pay it off and force buy out option also doesn't seem to work anymore. After the second to last communication with verizon my account now shows I currently don't have any device agreements to pay off. My phone is expected to arrive tomorrow. The last chat it started out very enthusiastic and after waiting for 20 min with supervisor came back and said have to wait for the 1st month bill to generate. The conversation after this I could tell that CS was very annoyed now. Eventually the chat "disconnected"

I believe your experience. I attached a screenshot of my first bill. You'll notice no device charge showing it is possible. I bet the supervisor told the CS not to do it and to dump the call.

Does your next bill show the device amount? If you did the buy out it will show that your next bill will be a little over $400. The device should be in your device agreements and show how much you are to pay monthly. Not understanding why it wouldn't show?

According to everyone i talk to the device was activated the minute I made my account. Not sure how true, that is but last agent said it should be unlocked we shall see tomorrow. I will follow up and worst case I will return to Walmart within the alloted return period. I'm getting this for my parents and don't really need it so it's a gamble I'm willing to take.
Thanks for the info. Would you mind let us know when does "the minute I made my account" actually occur? I have no Verizon numbers before, so I don't have an account before. But I did receive an email today (11/9) saying that "your account email address has been updated". Does this means that my account was created by Verizon today (11/9), or is it created yesterday (11/8) when I bought the phone? Thanks for all the help!

Yeah so I got that same email. I didn't have my phone number or account number so I called the number on the email and reached CS. They were reluctant at first but I gave them my name and billing address and they found my account they had to send me a confirmation email to make sure it was me and on that email it had my account number at the very bottom. I used that account number to set up my account. And I could see the activation was dated 11/09.

I'm not sure what you are saying. My next bill says exactly what it used to say but now it doesn't show the device payment fee of $8ish. So I take that as she did the correct steps to accomplish this. Is there another area I can check for verification?

So worst case scenario, we'll have to pay: $299 + ~$26 tax + $35 activation fee + $65 first month service + tax and then we can cancel the line or port out?

Correct that is worst case scenario financially.

Tried to do it here:
https://secure.verizon.com/access.../reg/start [verizon.com]

Step 1: Input my new Verizon phone number.
Step 2: Added my billing zip and pin, didn't work, unable to validate as an active Verizon user.
The other phone I ordered which hadn't shipped yet, I couldn't get pass step 1.
Was able to get my phone number from the contract, but after I entered billing zip and pin, it sends me to the next page with:

My Verizon Registration
  • Send me a Free Text Message to ###.###.#### with my one-time registration code
  • I already have a registration code
How does one get past this?

EDIT: I was able to finally register by going to this page instead: https://secure.verizon.com/accoun...ent=mobile
  1. Enter email
  2. Create password
  3. Verify email
  4. Then it'll ask you to add your phone number
  5. You can then select the email option to verify
  6. Click link on email and voila!
