I received iPhone 13 today from walmart..
After inserting the SIM card and activating it, I chatted with Verizon.
The first agent refused the payoff and said it would be possible in 14 days.
The second agent sent me the URL right away and I paid $299.
Then I cancel line. I need 60days for unlock.

I tried to do it with an iPhone 14 in walmart.com when I saw this deal. It asked me to login to my Verizon (I'm with vzn), and asked for permission to pull credit. I declined. I think anything with a payment plan will need a credit check.

Though this is 36 months contract , but once you activate the line, you can pay off it via chat rep or in cash in verizon store . Once phone is paid , you can cancel the line with in 3 days to avoid activation / upgrade fees. Wait for 60 days to unlock the device.

THIS IS NOT MONTHLY CREDITS. AMOUNT FINANCED will be $299 or $99 , depends which phone you select.

Was able to get my phone number from the contract, but after I entered billing zip and pin, it sends me to the next page with:

My Verizon Registration
  • Send me a Free Text Message to ###.###.#### with my one-time registration code
  • I already have a registration code
How does one get past this?
So I got this also. I went to the website and opened a chat and said to the AI "need registration code". It ended up having me reset my password through my email and then bam I had account access which listed my new number without having my phone in hand.

Here's my iPhone journey.

Nov 8 - 12pm: Ordered ATT iPhone 13 from Walmart. New Customer. Only paid tax ($26).
Nov 8 - 3pm: Received a "welcome" email from ATT asking to verify email. It showed last 4 digits of account #, but since I do not have the full account # I cannot register.
Nov 10 - ???: expect delivery of phone. Will keep updated as I want to register/payoff/cancel immediately so I don't have to incur any additional feels like prorated usage or activation.
I have an update for today (Nov 9), which I added below.

Here's my iPhone 13 purchase journey.

* Nov 8 - 12pm: Ordered ATT iPhone 13 from Walmart. New Customer. Only paid tax ($26).
* Nov 8 - 3pm: Received a "welcome" email from ATT asking to verify email. It showed last 4 digits of account #, but since I do not have the full account # I cannot register.
* Nov 9 - 4pm: Received a new email from ATT titled "take action now to get access to your new service". The link inside the email let me register even though I don't know my account #. After registering, I now have access to the account # that ATT assigned to me.
* Nov 10 - ???: expect delivery of phone. Will keep updated as I want to register/payoff/cancel immediately so I don't have to incur any additional feels like prorated usage or activation.

edit: in addition to the Nov 9 update - poking around the site some more I was able to find my actual phone # assigned to the phone. also found the payoff section so I can technically pay off the phone right now. for those who have done this deal, but with an existing ATT account, what would you do in this situation?

edit 2: I decided to pay off the phone. it said it would take up to 24 hrs to reflect the payment, but it already charged my CC. wish me luck for tomorrow!

Yeah so I got that same email. I didn't have my phone number or account number so I called the number on the email and reached CS. They were reluctant at first but I gave them my name and billing address and they found my account they had to send me a confirmation email to make sure it was me and on that email it had my account number at the very bottom. I used that account number to set up my account. And I could see the activation was dated 11/09.
Did you find this on the Documents and receipts [verizon.com] page? In the first customer agreement doc, I also see an "Effective Date: 11/09/2023"

Nice, I didn't have to go through chat, was able to create a profile first with my email then link to phone after: https://secure.verizon.com/accoun...ateprofile

I'm guessing I need to go through chat to pay off device first then cancel line when I receive the phone.

There is a pay off phone page but it says I'm not eligible: https://www.verizon.com/digital/n...overview#/

I'm not the best to answer this. I have no ATT experience.

Interesting page there. Mine says " These devices aren't eligible to be paid off." But I did pay it off with a CS rep. I guess we'll find out tomorrow. I'll give them a call to verify and then cancel.

How long did it take you to find a rep willing to let you pay off early? Did the agent just send you a special link through chat to enter your CC info?

I called twice. First call the cs said can't do until 11/24 and they didn't have the capability and I would have to go to corporate store.

2nd call cs said a lot of the same. I read the prepay clause from the contract that says we can pay off. It says nothing about waiting 2 weeks. She poked around and said she found a spot she thought it would work. I read my credit card to her. Then when I reviewed my bill the device payment portion was no longer showing. So it appears to me it's paid off. A $299 payment is also reflected on the account.

I plan to call and cancel tomorrow. My phone arrives Saturday

Thanks! Mine arrives on Monday. Will call CS tomorrow.

Guessing you referring to this clause in the loan agreement doc?

"3. PREPAYMENT: You may pay the total amount due under this Device Payment Agreement at any time before thefinal scheduled payment is due, and You will not have to pay a penalty. If You pay more than the monthlypayment due, any excess amount You pay will be credited to Your account, and applied to any future chargespursuant to Section 2 above."

What is the reason you need to pay off the phone before cancelling. Can't I just cancel line and pay the remaining balance at the closing bill?

I believe your experience. I attached a screenshot of my first bill. You'll notice no device charge showing it is possible. I bet the supervisor told the CS not to do it and to dump the call.
I suspect the same. On my end my bill section or anywhere never showed any details including activation fee or breakdown of what I paid. Literally just blank no bill or activity.

Yes I read that to her. She also referenced it herself in my account, so she understood the situation. I just think that their system doesn't allow it like I said, in an earlier post, she found the payoff option hidden in a menu concerning bill estimate.
