I received iPhone 13 today from walmart..
After inserting the SIM card and activating it, I chatted with Verizon.
The first agent refused the payoff and said it would be possible in 14 days.
The second agent sent me the URL right away and I paid $299.
Then I cancel line. I need 60days for unlock.

I tried to do it with an iPhone 14 in walmart.com when I saw this deal. It asked me to login to my Verizon (I'm with vzn), and asked for permission to pull credit. I declined. I think anything with a payment plan will need a credit check.

Though this is 36 months contract , but once you activate the line, you can pay off it via chat rep or in cash in verizon store . Once phone is paid , you can cancel the line with in 3 days to avoid activation / upgrade fees. Wait for 60 days to unlock the device.

THIS IS NOT MONTHLY CREDITS. AMOUNT FINANCED will be $299 or $99 , depends which phone you select.

wow, i didnt even know that option available, they only charge me $24 for the tax. oh well, too lafe for me now.
I requested exactly this in-store at Walmart this morning. I watch the rep on his terminal and the system would only accept $0 as the down payment amount. No big deal, I just paid the entire balance on the AT&T app and now waiting to try the SIM-card shuffle unlock trick.

I cancelled my line while the phone was still in transit. I hope that doesn't mean it doesn't get unlocked since people are now speculating you might have to actually use the phone to activate it.

My steps:
1) Purchased Iphone (verizon) online.
2) Waited for shipping notice.
3) Opened online account with Verizon.
4) Added credit card to payment method in account.
5) Called 8008374966 and went though bot to pay off $299 for device.
6) Got confirmation of device payoff.
7) Went through chat online and asked to cancel line. They said it would be deactivated in 1 month. I asked if it could be deactivated today and they agreed to do it. Line cancelled.
8) Wait for phone to arrive, then wait for 60 days to use. Hopefully I don't get stuck with a locked phone since I didn't actually use it first.

Anybody who is locked in to Verizon that activated their new sim successfully? Mine arrived this morning but there's no service with the new sim.

I believe waiting to get the phone to test phone call is just assuring that the phone is indeed activated to start the 60 days unlock. If you already canceled while in transit if your lucky its offically activated already before they ship think you're fine. I don't know if this would work, but maybe borrow a friends/family with verizon post paid sim card and attempt to make a call from it to be sure to activate it (again not sure if necessary) or just wait 60 days and see.

Thanks for the info. When chatting with agent, what reason to give to cancel the line? Thanks.

That's why porting out your number is the best move. Cancels your line right away and you can just wait for the bill in the mail and no need to talk to unreliable company reps.
Thanks for the info. Could you let me know which carrier is best for performing the port out? Thanks.

I told them I decided I didn't need it.
The rep said they understand.

No issue.

I received the Verizon iPhone13 I ordered but it seems like it is an AT&T one not Verizon. Will Verizon still charge me if I keep the phone without activating it?

Went to Walmart store, grabbed the last verizon iPhone 13, put $298 down payment plus tax. Now I owe $1 and gonna try to pay off now and cancel the plan. Hope this works. Glad that I didn't order online as shipping estimates shows Nov 17 which is beyond three days.

My story:

1. 11/8 ordered the Verizon Phone

2. 11/9 delivered, put an old ATT SIM and turned on the phone. It shows being locked to ATT. Used the ATT trick to unlock the phone in 5 minutes.

3. Tried this 611 approach later 11/9 night, it didn't work initially. The bot always sent me a url via message which redirected me to Verizon App and it kept saying I cannot pay off.

4. Tried the above approach again this morning, it worked magically this time! Guess it answers differently within or out of working hours.

5. Called 611 again to cancel my line. All set.

Thanks for all the help. Saved me the trip to Verizon store.
seems like as soon as we are able to set up VZN account, we can pay off and cancel the line even the phone is still in transit. Once the phone arrives, we can insert an inactive ATT sim to unlock it and not to rely on VZN 60 days unlock or are stuck with not able to unlock b/c the phone is never on VZN network
