I received iPhone 13 today from walmart..
After inserting the SIM card and activating it, I chatted with Verizon.
The first agent refused the payoff and said it would be possible in 14 days.
The second agent sent me the URL right away and I paid $299.
Then I cancel line. I need 60days for unlock.

I tried to do it with an iPhone 14 in walmart.com when I saw this deal. It asked me to login to my Verizon (I'm with vzn), and asked for permission to pull credit. I declined. I think anything with a payment plan will need a credit check.

Though this is 36 months contract , but once you activate the line, you can pay off it via chat rep or in cash in verizon store . Once phone is paid , you can cancel the line with in 3 days to avoid activation / upgrade fees. Wait for 60 days to unlock the device.

THIS IS NOT MONTHLY CREDITS. AMOUNT FINANCED will be $299 or $99 , depends which phone you select.

Did your rep put the SIM in and turn on the phone? Mine did—no idea if I can still do the trick

Once a sim is put in the phone and turned on the phone locks to that carrier so nope, you cant do the trick after that - its 60 days

I'm not sure if I made it worse or better. I called a third time and the person said they could force pay it out to my bill which is generating today. I won't see it until a couple days for this bill. If I cancel now will it just have the phone cost on the bill?
Yes you will receive the total on the final bill. You don't have to pay off the device b4 cancelation.

So I can just call and cancel now (just got the phone and plan today) and pay the one day charge and the remainder of the phone ($36)?

I am wondering If we by using ATT MVNO on the Verizon phone before turning it on, will the unlock trick work?

For any one reading, this worked for me.

Small update for today (Nov 10 2pm), which I added below.

Here's my ATT iPhone 13 purchase journey.

* Nov 8 - 12pm: Ordered ATT iPhone 13 from Walmart. New Customer. Only paid tax ($26).
* Nov 8 - 3pm: Received a "welcome" email from ATT asking to verify email. It showed last 4 digits of account #, but since I do not have the full account # I cannot register.
* Nov 9 - 4pm: Received a new email from ATT titled "take action now to get access to your new service". The link inside the email let me register even though I don't know my account #. After registering, I now have access to the account # that ATT assigned to me.
* Nov 9 - 5pm: Poking around the site some more I was able to find my actual phone # assigned to the phone. also found the payoff section and decided to pay off the phone. It has reflected payment in my credit card account.
* Nov 9 - 10pm: Received shipping information with tracking #. Scheduled for delivery on Nov 10.
* Nov 10 - ???: expect delivery of phone. Will keep updated as I want to register/payoff/cancel immediately so I don't have to incur any additional feels like prorated usage or activation. Technically already paid off the phone so we'll see....

When you place the order on Walmart sign, on the checkout page, there is a box with mobile contact number, it defaults to a random number. Is this the new number assigned to your account/phone?

I am guessing it is but it makes no sense as they obviously cant contact you on that number in case anything comes up with your order.

I have done these in past years with AT&T, this time Verizon. Activation fees were always waived on AT&T since have "The Discount". Anyway, seems the best deal with Verizon centers around making sure you cancel within 3 days. Three questions for verterans of these deals with VZW:

1. Does a completed port waive the activation fee without "fighting" for it?

2. Does the port need to be to a non-verizon MVNO so it is a true port?

3. So my account shows activation on 11/9, is three days for this 11/9+11/10+11/11 or 11/9 plus 3 days equals 11/12? ( I ask as my delivery is 11/11 and if I have to do the after hours bot payoff then I still need to talk to a human to cancel if I go that route)
I'm wondering the exact same thing. My delivery date is 11/11. Ordered 11/8, shipped on 11/9

Yeah, I think you email them to unlock. You claim you purchased phone with VZW installment agreement and it should not be locked to ATT

Also if worse comes to worse you can always use the phone as a trade in towards a better phone. Trade ins can be locked
worst case is to return the phone within 14 days and waste the time on the deal

On the VZ deal, Some people have said 3 days from order date some have said from ship date/activation date. So confused. Just don't want to get stuck with the activation fee cause I'm sure that's a pain to try to get refunded manually…

My story:

1. 11/8 ordered the Verizon Phone

2. 11/9 delivered, put an old ATT SIM and turned on the phone. It shows being locked to ATT. Used the ATT trick to unlock the phone in 5 minutes.

3. Tried this 611 approach later 11/9 night, it didn't work initially. The bot always sent me a url via message which redirected me to Verizon App and it kept saying I cannot pay off.

4. Tried the above approach again this morning, it worked magically this time! Guess it answers differently within or out of working hours.

5. Called 611 again to cancel my line. All set.

Thanks for all the help. Saved me the trip to Verizon store.
This is it!! This is the magic formula! Just paid off my device, took 3 minutes!

This info should be in the wiki, it will help avoid much frustration.

I meant the comment above this one about adding your credit card to your saved payment methods.

Look at my last comment. Look for the post that mentions saving your credit card to your Verizon account. The original message is a few pages back.
