I received iPhone 13 today from walmart..
After inserting the SIM card and activating it, I chatted with Verizon.
The first agent refused the payoff and said it would be possible in 14 days.
The second agent sent me the URL right away and I paid $299.
Then I cancel line. I need 60days for unlock.

I tried to do it with an iPhone 14 in walmart.com when I saw this deal. It asked me to login to my Verizon (I'm with vzn), and asked for permission to pull credit. I declined. I think anything with a payment plan will need a credit check.

Though this is 36 months contract , but once you activate the line, you can pay off it via chat rep or in cash in verizon store . Once phone is paid , you can cancel the line with in 3 days to avoid activation / upgrade fees. Wait for 60 days to unlock the device.

THIS IS NOT MONTHLY CREDITS. AMOUNT FINANCED will be $299 or $99 , depends which phone you select.

AT&T corporate store wouldn't just sell me a sim. They said it must be activated and lady kept wanting to sign me up for $70/mo service. She obviously didn't get it.

I went to Walmart and they're just hanging in the electronics isle. It was $10.

I'm going to read some of the iPhone 13 mini thread some before I decide whether I insert the Verizon sim or not. Obviously I'm worried the device might lock to AT&T if the unlock doesn't work.
Thanks, please let us know if the Walmart $10 sim works.

Corporate store was a lot easier than I expected, basically the agent before added the device buyout to the next bill so I was able to pay the $299 from that bill in advance and I'll just cancel the line once I receive the phone on Monday and pay the remaining activation, taxes and prorated amount by then

Just got off phone with Verizon cs and tried to get my phone number since I didn't write it down at check out. She couldn't find any info on me with SSN, DOB, name, and address. I asked about when phone is activated since I ordered on 11/9 and may not get now til after 11/13 and this would be past 3 days. She said phone is not activated til I turn it on and go through the set up process on it. I hope she right.

Even if I could set up an account now, I don't think I wanna pay off until I get it. Don't know if phone will get lost or order cancelled while my wm status says Delayed.
Same for me. I actually created and account w/ VZ using my email after placing the order, but they have no record of it. My phone has shipped, so I'll check again when it arrives.

Can you elaborate a bit? Sorry I think my ADHD brain is over thinking things.
I know for for the Verizon phone I would place AT&T sim in device and go through setting up the phone.

Just a little lost on the process on AT&T the device…
I just followed the community wiki directions, and it worked for me first time

I will. Just thinking things over for a few mins. I read through the iPhone 13 mini thread some. It's seems the phone locks itself on first boot. Seems like a stupid system but I guess it has worked since the store put in their sim and turned on the phone before you left the store.

But since we have a naked phone, it appears one can put in any sim to avoid the 60 lock. But be sure you pay Verizon the $299. They won't forget Smilie

Found an inactive Cricket sim, would it do "AT&T" trick?
Please share your experience if anyone did.
Thanks.

Has anyone tried Att unlock trick on this phone that people are doing on the iPhone 13 deal?
I saw 2 posts um like 20 pages back that mentioned they did the AT&T trick. Do you have a spare sim sitting around. Which one of us goes first?

To be on safer side, before you cancel the line with VZ, make sure that you have either unlocked via ATT sim trick OR inserted VZ sim in your phone, make one or two calls and then cancel the line.

I just cancelled my VZ and agent gave me full activation refund. I placed my order on 11/08 and phone arrived today. It has been less than 72 hours so I dont know how they can refuse full activation refund.
I tried calling instead of live chat and they confirmed activation fee would be refunded.

I used an old H2O sim and it worked.
Can you expound further? I assume you didn't put the Verizon sim in? So you put the H2O sim in first and then the phone became locked? Then you used the AT&T tool to request unlock and then the phone became unlocked?

I paid off the phone and then called Verizon again to disconnect the phone plan. Was told the final bill will be $35 + $75 one-month plan + Gov. fee. They said plans are billed a month in advance. Does anyone have the same experience?

I am chatting with VZN and was told final fill will be $54.39, they do not agree to waive the activation fee, instead will to cut it to $17.5, is this nomal?

Updates: just end the chat. After I insisted I am entitled the activation waived, the agent agreed to check then came back to confirm that is correct. Since I have an autopay setup, the final bill will be charged to the card on the autopay with the activation fee waived. The agent emailed me the final bill and it shows up in my VZN acct.

BTW, the initial $17.5 is when the agent first proposed to cut the activation fee to half, not the final bill. So the total would be $17.5+2days service+tax/other fee. But I now got the activation fee removed.

I agree with this. I'm paid off but not canceled. Trying to decide which SIM to boot the phone up with.

Here is the iPhone 13 mini thread. They were completely clueless. Huge piles of fire in there. Read the wiki first before the comments. But it appears Walmart sent out phones and never activated them. For the phones that Walmart did activate, they didn't automatically unlock after 60 days. This is my impression reading through about 30 pages.
