I received iPhone 13 today from walmart..
After inserting the SIM card and activating it, I chatted with Verizon.
The first agent refused the payoff and said it would be possible in 14 days.
The second agent sent me the URL right away and I paid $299.
Then I cancel line. I need 60days for unlock.

I tried to do it with an iPhone 14 in walmart.com when I saw this deal. It asked me to login to my Verizon (I'm with vzn), and asked for permission to pull credit. I declined. I think anything with a payment plan will need a credit check.

Though this is 36 months contract , but once you activate the line, you can pay off it via chat rep or in cash in verizon store . Once phone is paid , you can cancel the line with in 3 days to avoid activation / upgrade fees. Wait for 60 days to unlock the device.

THIS IS NOT MONTHLY CREDITS. AMOUNT FINANCED will be $299 or $99 , depends which phone you select.

Just received the phone and SIM card. Could you please tell me how to pay off the phone? If I put my Verizon SIM card into another unlock phone to check the phone number, would it lock my that unlocked phone?

Confirmed that the unlock worked for an AT&T prepaid sim. Same sim used for the iPhone 13 Mini bonanza in the spring. :-)

Now figuring out the "best" process to cancel the Verizon line. Hoping to see someone add that to the Wiki.

I can also confirm that the H2O $1 SIM card from Target works for me.

I finally got a csr from Verizon that was able to give me my number and established a 4 digit pin. My phone is still in transit. Just got on the Verizon app to set up an account but it needs to send a one time registration text to the new number. Obviously I can't get that without the phone. How have people been able to set up an acct before phone arrives? And also, when it's here and for me to read that authorization text, don't I need the Verizon sim in the phone to do so and won't that mess up the unlock trick?

First phone - CS call allowed me to pay off the $299 and after the AT&T sim trick, I canceled the line on day 3.

Second phone - Won't deliver until day 4. So after trying to get the robot and 3 CS agents to allow me to pay off the $299, I just canceled the line on day 2. After canceling the line with the CS agent, I asked if it would then allow a pay off. She said no. I guess it will bill out eventually. Get to keep $300 in my high yield savings for another month or so. Stupid but really this whole situation is dumb. We should just be able to buy these phones near this price for 2 yr old tech but the big 3 allow apple to keep the prices high.

With the web browser you create the account up until the point it sends the pin to your phone. But regardless the account was created even if you don't enter that pin. Then go back to sign in and say lost password. It will send password reset to your email. Then do the steps and you now have account access which will show your phone and IMEI and other info.

Right and you should never put that Verizon sim into your phone. You'll just never get that text. Doesn't matter. Account is useless. You'll have to pay it off and cancel which will always require a human.

Wud u mind sharing if it was a new ATT sim or an old one you had lying around.

Was hoping to get a new H2O or ATT sim from target later today and try the unlock method.
Old like probably 10 years old it was in a LG G4 before

AT&T corporate store wouldn't just sell me a sim. They said it must be activated and lady kept wanting to sign me up for $70/mo service. She obviously didn't get it.

I went to Walmart and they're just hanging in the electronics isle. It was $10.

I'm going to read some of the iPhone 13 mini thread some before I decide whether I insert the Verizon sim or not. Obviously I'm worried the device might lock to AT&T if the unlock doesn't work.
Do you mean this 9.88 card? https://www.walmart.com/ip/seort/921465310
Would love to know if this worked unlocking a verizon device, thanks!

Yes this card worked. Though people have reported success with H2O card for $1 from target if you want to save $7

I had 2 phone delivered today, I paid them both off this morning.

I activated both with the same, old, AT&T sim.

I did the, "Unlock your device", on both phones. Got 2nd confirmation emails.

After unlock, I put in a good AT&T sim card into both phones to ensure I could make and receive calls. (ie. unlocked)

Started the process to cancel Verizon service on both phones.

Ran into a bit of a run around when I called up Verizon tonight to cancel both phones (separately).

Called 800-837-4966

1st number - got transferred to CS Rep. from the robot when I said, I want to cancel my service. She said I could cancel immediately, but would be charged ~$100 (activation + 1 month of service + taxes). I said this wasn't acceptable and wanted the "Verizon worry free Guarantee or Satisfaction Guarantee". She pushed back and and I asked to speak to her supervisor. On hold for 4 minutes, she came back and said she talked to the supervisor and "this time only" they would cancel at no charge ($0). Yay!

2nd number - got transferred to CS Rep. from the robot when I said, I want to cancel my service. She said I could cancel immediately, but would be charged ~$13.13. I wasn't in the mood to argue and accepted.

Bottom line, folks probably should push back if you are cancelling in < 3 days and they're charging you more than ~$20.

Good luck everyone!

does anyone who order from ATT receive the phone? does it come with physical sim card? i am still waiting on the phone to arrive tomorrow but I just paid it off the and the option for activation is no longer there. I call CS and they said the phone is already activated. look like the phone is coming with e-sim , if so i don't know if the swap sim trick for ATT still work ?

So just to confirm. You booted phone #1 with att sim and did the unlock with them and then popped out the sim and put it into phone #2. Then boot and unlock with att again with same sim?

I also had two phones. First phone I was able to pay the $299 and then cancel. The CS lady was so nice she credited the account for the 3 days of service $12.74. Second phone no one would let me pay off. So I cancelled the line. Called back after cancel. Was told bill would generate 11/14 for $300.72. None of my CS people tried to hit me up with any fees other than the prorated billed monthly charged amount.
