No, it's just a steaming box that has its own OS and channels like Netflix and Hulu that require their own subscriptions. There are some free, ad supported channels that I don't watch. I mostly use it for Plex and YouTube tv. The OS is super simple and easy to use. I really like them and have had about 8 over the years. I've used just about every other streaming device and these just work. I would recommend either the Stick, LT or Ultra. The express is much slower than the rest.

And on my main TV, I have sound bar, Roku controls power and sound on Tv and sound bar, but I believe that is because I am using it with HDMI eArc connection. Haven't tried to directly control external receiver with it.
However, the roku software in the settings menu only suggests you can connect to TV. There is no option to pair with something other than a TV.
