I'm curious. What else can a Shield do?
If you have to ask, you don't need it. It's android based, so you'll spend hours setting it up and configuring it and it won't produce a noticeably better picture or sound, short of you spending ten to a hundred grand on a proper light and sound environment. But some people just have to tinker with all of the settings to get things absolutely perfect - it's their hobby, like sailboat racing or open source coding or audiophile listening. It's not about the end product, it's about the journey to a perfect product.

$34 for a Roku that just works (assuming it does, in fact, have the features you need) is worlds better for the non-hobbiest.

So is the Ultra LT being discontinued? The Roku website doesn't even show an Ultra LT - only the Ultra. Also the Walmart current price is $80.00 - isn't that how they price closeouts (exact dollar amounts)?
It's a Walmart special edition. It really needs a memory card to operate properly. Picked one up last year. Almost returned it till I tried adding a memory card.

i think its just the walmart version of the ultra, since the remote has a vudu button on it

Nice deal, but I'm waiting for a deal on the regular Ultra. This LT is the cheaper version that lacks Dolby support.
https://developer.roku.com/docs/s...ardware.md

Dolby Vision is supported on the LT. It also supports TrueHD and Atmos passthrough in Plex. DTS:X passthrough is also supported.

EDIT: Dolby Atmos / TrueHD / DTS:X passthrough are not supported. I was thinking of the Nvidia Shield.

does this have bluetooth? really need it for quiet TV at night.
I have several other Roku devices (not the Ultra), but I'm pretty sure none have bluetooth.

However, you just use the Roku app on your phone and then you can control the device as well as use headphones. Works great, I use it almost every day.

Genuine question: those who own Roku units, are you still randomly seeing the purple HDCP error message despite having a quality hdmi cable?

I was a Roku household and upto a year or so ago got those random hdmi HDCP messages. I did all the firmware upgrades but it was of no help.
I also upgraded my TVs firmware as well.

Roku Ultra LT appears to be Walmart specific - this may not include the pro version of the remote that includes the remote finder feature.
oh, i guess i don't have the LT currently, but the regular Ultra, mine has the remote finder and assignable buttons. I like the one I have but at this price for a secondary tv the missing features I can live without, the tv I want it for is LG and I hate the smart tv os.

Pass all Dolby and DTS audio through without downconverting to DTS / Dolby Digital +. You can also use it to host a Plex server and play your PC games if you have an NVIDIA GPU.

The only thing the LT lacks over the regular one is a USB port and JBL earbuds.

I have a TCL 4K Roku TV (55s405) and it seems sluggish.

Would the Ultra LT be more responsive?

What Roku hardware is inside of my Roku TV.

Edit - I found online that my 55s405 has a dual core processor, so I am pretty sure the Ultra LT will give a smoother experience than what's inside my TV.

I get them as well, maybe 1x a week or every other. I never found a fix and just reset my device real quick and it resolves it. Not a huge issue, more of an inconvenience.

TV remotes and OS's are really bad. I always put Roku Boxes on them.

So specs wise is this just as good as the regular Ultra if you don't need the fancy remote, usb port or Dolby Atmos?
