Anyone know or confirm that these could be used as access points? I don't need nor want it to take over routing from my nighthawk.

Yes, just set this up last night and there's an access point mode option.

Yes but you lose all parental controls and security features. These are paid per year anyways so maybe you don't care

Anyone have experience with using the 6e backhand? How good is it and just how much do walls slow it down?

It isn't bad but don't expect full gig speeds.

Range is actually descent if line of sight is achievable.

I can still pull 500-700 Mbps with 6e backhaul setup.

Yeah, this. Currently, have Asus rt-a68u router setup now for small apartment and really like the free security & parental controls using with the kids. Moving to 3000+ sqft home soon, so been looking at wifi meshes. This brand and the Asus Zenwifi are top of list but the free parental controls makes me lean more towards the Asus Zenwifi.

6E backhaul worked very well and these are great performing routers WHEN they're working. I recently sold mine after about 10 months of constant software/ firmware issues.

I was having tons of drop outs from the satellite just losing connection. I eventually had to set up any devices I cared about having a reliable connection to only use the main router, then ultimately just stopped using the satellite. The main unit needed a power reset several times a week because it would lose internet.

I spent hours troubleshooting with level 2 and 3 techs with TP-Link that uploaded some experimental firmware that fixed the issues for a few months but then they came back worse.

That's too bad. I have been using this brand and these very ones with m9 with no issues: solid and fast.

Same - the Costco model of this has been trouble free for a year now. I liked them so much I bought a second 3 pack.
