How does this affect my tire warranty if I cancel and swap to my wife's name?
Any account changes, and even if you end your membership completely, has absolutely no bearing on your previous tire purchase and the warranty.

Your warranty is 'set in stone' at time of purchase and nothing affects it afterward, even if you drop being a member.
The only requirements for any warranty claim is that you were a member at the time of purchase and you were the original purchaser, and able to present the original purchase receipt.

Never been a member. I suddenly need a new car battery and Costco is about $50 cheaper than anywhere else I've searched. But that's probably all I'll buy there in the coming year as it's greatly out of my way to go there. So I'm not sure if I want to buy into this now or not. Can a non-member go in with a friend who's a member?

Two years ago I needed another battery (different car) and I used the trick of buying a Shop card off e-b-a-y and using that to get in and buy it. Saved again, about $50, but it was a huge hassle and they made me feel like a scumbag for doing it that way. Worst of all I learned the battery warranty wouldn't apply.

I think my membership expired in 2022 may or June... Assuming I can't get in on this

edit: the people downvoting me have no idea about the 18 month cooldown. if my membership expired in June, likely I wouldn't qualify... and I'm unsure if stacksocial would help refund

another edit: I see that redemption terms are thru January.... just last week, it was only until mid November for this same deal. seems like I should be eligible no problem then, unless they give me a hard time for having been a secondary member since my old membership expired
Valid for NEW MEMBERS ONLY or for members whose memberships have been expired for more than 18 months.

I think things have changed recently.. Been doing the same thing you mentioned for years as well, however my recent experience with a Costco customer support representative is leading me to believe otherwise. This time, they asked me for my date of birth and current address while I was on the phone seeking to clarify why the promo wasnt working. Based on the phone exchange it now seems that even with a change of e-mail address, a change in the spelling of a letter in the last name as one of the other commenters suggested, or a change of address as was commonly done before, they are more thorough about individual tracking. Might just not be worth the hassle anymore. Keep in mind, years ago the computer systems were more basic, so I doubt frankly that they cared.
I don't see how they could tell you aren't a new member if you change 1 letter in your name. I don't know if they take down your driver lic # but if so Ill take my passport.

I will give it a shot and let you guys know how it went.

My executive member is expired, but i have not renewed or used cash back yet. Can i apply this new membership with my spouse name (who is not member) and use the cash back cheque later with that new membership account?

Lots of comments that have nothing to do with this offer. Is it $60 and the $40 card or $60 after the $40 card?

Link straight from Costco? I'll take $30 from them instead of possibly not getting $40 with this deal.

FWIW I am not going to renew my membership this weekend when it expires. I have many outlets here to shop at as a 1 person household and don't see any benefit to CC. Prices on sale items at other places are better than CC if U are willing to shop around. Other than cheap rotisserie chicken and their hot dogs + drink, no attraction for me otherwise.

I'll go to BJ-s if they have a deal on a cheapo plan just for the sake of trying them.

Trying to get CC to renew with this deal just does not seem worth the hassle.

It was one of those mail postcards from Costco with the offer.

I'm in the same situation. I was thinking of changing a letter in my name to bypass the system but it isn't worth the hassle.

Also you won't loose the hot dogs bc you can use your old membership card to get in.
