I purchased this tablet when it first went on sale last week - it came in on Monday and I've been messing around with it for the past few days. Figured I would post my impressions/experiences here for anyone considering the purchase.

TL;DR - Unless you're a power user (you know who you are), this is more than enough tablet for anything you would ever want to do with it. The hardware is great bang for your buck, and maybe impossible to beat at this price. However, the software modifications from Lenovo, as well as the limitations of Android itself, mean that true multi-window multitasking is still janky as hell, so I would not recommend it if that is something that is important to you.

-----------------------

In more words:

The hardware is amazing for the price. The ~13" display on this thing is great and actually offers a different-enough experience from using a phone to justify the tablet's existence - something that I don't really think can be said for the plethora of ~10" options at this price point. The screen is an LCD (not OLED), so there is color shift when looking at this from an angle, and even at the edges of the screen when looking at it straight on (due to its sheer size). However, when in use and not just pixel peeping, it's really not something I personally notice, and is a fair tradeoff for not having to worry about OLED burn-in (at least, for me). It's "only" 60Hz, but for 95% of users (and probably 99% of use cases for the other 5%), that's enough.

The processor, while maybe not top-of-the-line, bleeding-edge, is again "fast enough" for anything 95% of people are going to do with it (the other 5%, you know who you are), and happily powers through general tasks without any hiccups. The 8GB of RAM on this model is the real unicorn here, and makes Android and any apps you have run happily and smoothly. The speakers are also a real highlight, and sound great.

The cameras are... well... cameras, but I'm not sure that's actually something folks really care about on a tablet.

The software running on this thing is Lenovo's customized version of Android (called "ZUI," I think). It's mostly stock, but does include some pretty low-level modifications to how Android handles multi-window multitasking, including how you actually navigate the core UI (think: the parts of the UI that stay the same regardless of the launcher). It's meant to bring stock Android's rather opaque multitasking features more to the forefront and make them more accessible and easier to use. In practice, though, it means you have to use the tablet the way Lenovo wants you to use it, and anyone who wants to try and customize things will quickly find that stuff starts to break quite spectacularly if you try to disable features or revert back to a closer-to-stock experience. Using a third party launcher is just... not really an option here. So prepare to learn some new hoops to jump through.

Sadly, despite Lenovo's efforts, multi-window multitasking is still a VERY bad experience on Android. It legitimately feels like a hack to use it - and not in a good way. Apps do not smoothly resize AT ALL, and most really do not like non-standard aspect ratios. Even something as basic as Google Maps ends up looking legitimately broken when in a 1:1 window. I am honestly surprised by how bad it is still in 2023. For me, it's to the point where I will honestly just entirely ignore/abandon this feature and just use all the apps full screen, multitasking just by switching back and forth between apps using gesture navigation (quite smooth thanks to the processor and ample RAM).

I could say more, but I think that's the main points and I'm bored of writing already (lol).

If I was a younger man with more interest/time to burn, I would look into trying to get stock Android up and running on this thing to get rid some of the Lenovo ZUI features that I will 100% never use. However, I'm kind of past the point in my life where I can burn away weeks of my time sitting in a dark room with a terminal window open trying to get things "just right," so it is what it is.

First, your kid is spoiled
No kid needs a s7+ level of tablet

Second, this would be a downgrade from the tab s7+, not sure why you'd make this change

Did your "my orders" page actually reflect the order status to "shipped"? Mine shows an estimate delivery date of 11/14, but status still shows "waiting to be shipped". Confusing to have a delivery date before the item is shipped.

Also delivered via UPS?
Yes it went to shipped and now delivered. Delivered via UPS (signature required)...I ordered around 3pm CST on 11/02.

For those of you that use the Vudu app, you can only play movies in SD unfortunately on this tablet.

I bought and can return the 10" Samsun Galaxy Tb S6 Lite for $199. Would this be a worthwhile upgrade to spend for? 4gb more ram in this Lenovo.

I hope this is faster than the S6 Lite 2022 version. If not, I will be returning it. The S6 Lite was way too slow

I think this is a fair assessment. Got mine the other day to replace a Samsung Tab A I had as my daily driver for about four years. I actually think it's almost too big for my needs, but I assume I'll adjust.

What I'm really not used to yet is Android 13 and how I'm kind of forced to use the gestures if I don't want the messed up buttons on the bottom and the stupid icon bar they've added that is persistent on full screen apps. The fact I can only do 5x6 icons on this large screen is also kind of lame. I tried installing Nova Launcher which I've used for many years and there are apparently bugs that don't resolve the issues and cause the home button to randomly stop responding.

So I'm back to stock launcher and the gestures, which I honestly don't understand why anyone likes. I can't tell you how many times I've accidentally two finger swiped up instead of three when trying to bring up the recently used apps (which used to be a simple button push) and instead it rearranges my icons. Why would I ever want to do that? What use is that gesture? And I can't find a way to turn that one off.

I dunno. Hardware-wise it seems pretty good for simple media use and browsing with some light games tossed in, but the software is a bit frustrating and trying to customize isn't working like it used to. I honestly don't know if that more A13 or the tweaks Lenovo has made to it. It's a cheap enough purchase that I'm not upset, but I never felt like I had to adjust to any of my previous tablets or phones over the years. This one is a bit too different. Hopefully I'll adapt.

Oh, and I tried the pen once just to see what it was about and... yeah, I don't need it. I found it awkward and not useful for nite taking. But that's fine, I have a stylus on my phone I never use either. It's just there.

Keep in mind the absolute garbage Lenovo customer service and lack of actual bug fixes in their updates. They have a stellar reputation for putting out very compelling tech and then abandoning it in ways that matter. Shipping timelines for popular items are a complete roll of the dice and you should not trust what you are told during the order. I once waited 6 weeks for a product I was told I would receive in two business days.

Some Lenovo stuff is great (like, really great). It just seems like they are too inconsistent in their products and need to revamp their entire customer service approach
