I have had the Embody for 2+ years.
Yes, it wears well
it is well made
they stand behind their warranty
It cleans easily
But I dislike it. It has a full back, and I find I can't sit in it longer than 2 hours. It's just not comfortable. I've tried a memory foam cushion (ComfiLife) which helps, but not great.
I was better off buying the foam padded chairs for $100 on sale at office depot, etc and throwing them out every 2 years.
IMHO
This post spurred me to finally buy one of the craigslist Aerons, since I had been meaning to anyway. Paid $800 for a size C of the newer model fully loaded. I love it, but I just had some Chinese crap chair before. 800 is still a lot, but the chair is in good condition, and I didn't want to wait around for a deal. Size C commands a premium in the aftermarket. I hear lots online about people preferring the Embody, but I went to a store, sat in both, and the Aeron felt better to me.
To pick it up I met them at an industrial storage unit. It was filled with Aerons and stacks of parts as well. Many were old style. I wanted the mineral color but the one they had of that was discolored (yellow yucky arm rests). Pretty weird experience!
Check your email if you have an account with Herman Miller or enlisted in there newsletter. YMMV as they sent 5% off unique code which stacks with the 20%-25%. You'll get 29% off getting an Embody.
How's the Embody for big dudes? I'm 6'3, 275 so I need some room.
I remember someone on Reddit who was a similar size said he thought the armrests didn't adjust outward enough due to his size.
I tried out both the Embody and Embody gaming at a DWR store last week. I slightly preferred the non-gaming version, but was considering ordering the gaming version due to the lower price and aesthetic preference. Decided I wanted to try a Steelcase Gesture before ordering - I ended up seeing one on OfferUp for $95. Bought it, cleaned it up, and have been using it for a few days now. It seems just as comfortable as the Embody for me.

Check out the Humanscale Freedom. Feels a bit wider and more spacious. A plus is that the arms fold down very low so they don't get in the way of guitar bodies.

It's supposed to support, not be super plush like a couch. Did you adjust it to fit your body? Anywho, try a different chair. Humanscale Freedom, Steelcase Gesture, lots out there.
