Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.
So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.
Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

I placed two orders earlier today. My first order with the phone and $35 plan has not shipped yet. Surprisingly, my second order with only the phone has shipped. What is the least expensive way to activate my phone only order?
Some people are suggesting activating on esim using Tracfone $10 plan and it will still unlock in 60 days. Others are suggesting the ST SIM is tied to phone IMEI so need to activate on ST $45 plan and activating with TF may jeopardize the unlock.

Let me know if you figure out if TF truly works LOL.

If you just bought phone without plan then activating on Tracfone is cheaper.
Thanks, so activate on esim on Tracfone, leave ST sim inside, and after 60 days it will unlock if phone is international on wifi only correct?

TF works if you need cheap service for activation. Unlocked mine with no problem. Read one of the numerous threads on SD, recommend that you use physical sim for easiest unlock.

No. Use physical sim that comes with phone so it automatically unlocks.TF support is clueless when it comes to esim, only been using with iPhone SE for a few months.

Need a Straight Talk rep instore to get the discount. They needed to enter the phone and plan on their terminal to get the discount to apply. Then they will scan the sku on the Walmart POS to check out.
When you say "enter the phone and plan on their terminal" are you referring to the phone's IMEI and the plan's pin number (scratch to reveal on the card)?

And this needs to be done at a Walmart store with the WARP system, correct?

it doesn't need to be done if manager will override the $149 price to $49. They did it for me at my walmart since phone rep wasn't working at 11 am.

I went home put sim card in the phone and activated over the phone number on the red card inside on back of phone. and the $35 pin code for service. Texted Unlock to 611611 and it replied with Automatic Unlock date of 1/06/2024

if it is two..then dont under stand why the website is allowing more than 2 ....
The website was also allowing orders with no plans but those have subsequently been cancelled. Which I assume duplicate orders over their limit will also be.

So I should use the SIM that comes with the phone, and purchase a $10 activation at TracFone? My order is only the phone, no plan included.

No email.

They activated it there.

It was a ST "activation" specialist. The WM CSR could not do it because it required clickety clakking on the ST keyboard setup. In my store, phone activations have a separate desk from regular check out.
Mine was also a separate desk but they did not activate the phones in store at all. They activated the SIM cards only.

Make sure you use the physical sim that comes with the phone to activate. If you use another straight talk or Tracfone sim it counts as BYOD and the phone will not unlock after two months.

so if my phone magically gets shipped from ST, I do not need to activate with ST sim and instead esim activate with cheaper $10 TF plan and it will still unlock in 60 days? I am flying international in 4 days and will be keeping the phone in India, hoping it still unlocks on wifi (ST SIM will remain inisde and TF activation on esim in US). TIA
You have to activate the phone with the SIM card from st to begin the unlock clock.

Exactly, it's what people have been doing since last summer when price first dropped at Walmart. Huge thread on SD.
Just select "I have a TracFone" & follow the prompts on the website.
