Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.
So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.
Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

Wally, $35 plan OK.
ST, $45 plan is required now.
I think WM taxes you on the $150... ST only taxes you on the $50... so the $10 difference probably balances out if you live in a high tax area.

Yeah, they often have a decent assortment of cases, depending on the store. However, most of them are hard plastic. The clear ones are a nice soft, flexible silicone which is fairly grippy but still slides in and out of the pocket easily. They might have those in colors also, but I've only ever seen the clear ones around me.

They have ones that fit the 3rd SE ?

The cards may have fallen out in your car, etc. Try and retrace you steps.

Cell phone cards are not returnable
I'll have to go back to the store I'm certain I don't get any refill cards, I checked the bags I out them in at the store, car, everything. I don't even recall her showing me the $35 refill cards, since this is my first time doing this I didn't even think about needed to have those refill cards but I was definitely charged for them

But it's giving the unlock date as 60 days from now(on texting UNLOCK)
That date is for the phone linked to the SIM card you texted from, not the phone from which you texted.

Are you able to login to the Straight Talk website with your email? (You can reset password there) That should tell you the IMEI of the phone and the associated phone number with it.

So I think you can just keep the phone sealed in the box for 61 days and it will automatically unlock.
Are you willing to gamble it will auto unlock for the person who buys the sealed phone?

Just to clarify.. There are no $35 cards. As in, the card doesn't mention $35 in any way. It's just a straight talk SIM card which you pop in to the phone. It should already be activated with a $35 plan.

I wouldn't trust it. When I check 611 for phone I'm using right now it says already unlocked - but I only activated it 5 weeks ago & it's still locked. Their system makes frequent mistakes.
Previous experience from personal use of activating numerous phones over several years (& reading Howard Forums for info) is to always use original sim for activation - no hassles that way.

I did get the sim cards those were attached to the back of the phone in a pouch. But when I got online to activate it asks for a card pin or plan pin which is found in the back or bottom of the refill card according to the online process

No that's not a good idea. I am just throwing out my experience for other people who would like to gamble on this. I am not selling the phone either.

If you go back and read my earlier posts, my issue was that I was given a faulty SIM card. When I put the SIM card in the phone, the phone thinks there is no SIM. So my options are go back to Walmart and deal with replacing the SIM somehow or just log in to straight talk and verify that the plan has been activated. I did the later and confirmed that the line has in fact been activated with the right device.

I might try to reach out to straight talk directly to get a replacement SIM now that I have online access. If anyone knows of an easy way to do this, please let me know.

I'm sure SlySol or someone else will back me up.
So, what's my best bet now? One sim is activated, but the other sim is having trouble. WM missed adding the airtime. So I should try adding airtime with WM and see if swapping to the right combo does the trick. If not, need any info you can provide

The packaging doesn't say SE 3 specifically, but they use the same case as the 7, 8 and SE 2.

I thought so too but I just logged into the Straight Talk website using the SIM card number (not the phone number). I saw that the line was active and I saw a device with the correct IMEI linked as well. So it looks like the activation is automatic even if you don't pop-in the SIM card into the phone.

So I think you can just keep the phone sealed in the box for 61 days and it will automatically unlock.
Seems kind of risky

actually some people posted elsewhere they got shipping info after 9pm est. they are still working on shipping and cancelling other orders...
I posted at 11:16 ET. I was pretty confident no more emails were going out. I would not be surprised if I wake up and see something but I am guessing the shippers are sleeping now.

Thanks. Good to know. I have a Samsung SE 23 , guessing that case is going to be a bit unique
