Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.
So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.
Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

Agree, I was able to do a Family plan with 4 phones that lowered the average cost of the one month service to around 30 per phone. A pleasant phone call might work if something goes awry, if not, on to the next deal.

There's simply no point in disputing this early. Loads of people have ended up getting their orders after a week or two. If there's a problem down the road, that's when to file a dispute. I don't know why people even bother placing orders with them in the first place if they can't give it at least a week or so. It's well known that's how it works with them.

I agree , its just frustrating that people who ordered the phone yesterday have gotten shipping notifications while many of us who ordered two days ago in the morning are stuck in limbo. One of my phones included the $35 plan which granted they removed later but if the website was allowing it and the same deal is available at Walmart they should allow the deal to go through

The fraud department wants the phone back. You want to sell the phone, or wait 60 days for it to unlock. Go into your account and sign up for the 30 dollar plan for a month, cheap insurance to prevent fraud department from blacklisting the IMEI.

blacklisting...how could they do when they sold for money legally...

they better take them back Smilie

in fact they gave the skip plan option on their website..its their mistake

Agree you can call and request a rebrand to Tracfone. However, I am going to take the route I know will work and just leave it on Straight Talk for a month and wait for the phone to show sim unrestricted.
Actually, the companies are becoming even closer. Many of the ST phones don't even require a call for rebranding any more. Loads of people were able to successfully activate them on TF right through the online portal. As long as you can get it activated on TF, it unlocks 60 days later. I've done two ST phones that way and there were a bunch of others from the last ST thread.

What are the steps once we get the phone from ST?

Activate the phone.
text for unlock date.
Use phone as needed.
Do not pay for next month.

Phone will unlock in 60 days.

Anything else?
Safe and Secure.

Anyway, holding the order, not shipping or cancelling is still a low play.

Just checked my order status.. pending remote fulfillment. Not sure what that means, but waiting for the eventual cancellation. If nothing changes in the next week or so, going to file a claim with Paypal for refund and go from there.

The Fraud department did not request return of the phone, correct. If so, you may be able to wait 60 days and it will unlock on its own. The safest bet is to use the included sim and activate with Straight Talk for one month on the cheapest plan.
I was planning on activating at Tracfone. I put in the IMEI number at Tracfone for activation and it allowed me to move forward and pick a plan. I didn't purchase any plan. This attached image is the SIM card pouch that came with the phone. It states 'This phone must be activated on Total or ST'. Any reason not to use Tracfone?

I purchased one from total a couple of weeks ago (before the $49 deal sadly) and had the same pouch with the SIM attached. I activated on Tracfone with the $10 plan ($15 plan with autopay discount) and texting UNLOCK to 611611 replies with a date that's 60 days from activation. Looks like it worked fine for me, but it's just one data point.

Lots of people bought ST phones and activated on Tracfone with good results. Here's a thread from a couple months ago where most did that …

https://slickdeals.net/f/16839860-straight-talk-simple-mobile-walmart-64gb-apple-iphone-se-2022-carrier-locked-150-free-shipping?v=1&src=SiteSearch

Sometimes a call is required dot get it activated, but many just rolled through the online activation without even a call. (One of my phones needed a call, the other didn't)

yeah ship them out or give full refunds. what are they waiting for?
Perhaps they held all orders from a certain point in time when they had the glitch until someone manually reviewed them for compliance with their terms.

I don't really care for ST, personally, but to be fair... there was a popup on their site after ordering that said due to the deal popularity orders may take 3-5 days to ship.

The flippers who were trying to order 5-10 phones without plans probably caused all shipments to be reigned in.
