Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.
So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.
Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

can I activate the iphone with ST sim card, make some calls/txt etc

then use the sim on another phone for porting out purpose?
I wouldn't recommend it - especially if you want the phone to get unlocked. Best to just leave things alone till you get the "no sim restrictions" in settings.

Yeah its $49 each and silver plan $45 2nd is $30. I actually called them to adjust the price but they said they can't and I said cancel then but that is not possible either. I do want the phone. If I refuse delivery then its 20% restock plus return shipping.
If item isn't opened, hopefully, they'd treat it as new, instead of "like new" but their website shows they may charge return shipping plus $25 handling fee. You might try messaging them over chat so you have a record of your corresp. and try checking with cc company in terms of whether they can help with either option (getting promo pricing honored if you accept shipment or getting full refund if they refuse to cancel).

Any return shipping cost is the responsibility of the customer. All shipping and handling fees are non-refundable. This includes all refused and unaccepted packages which are also subject to a $25.00 handling fee.

Got to store at 11 am today. They had several in stock, but no rep to work the register until noon. Also, price in this store (Fishkill, NY) was $99.

Hopefully it's all straightened out by tomorrow....this pending remote fulfillment BS is so annoying. Just cancel it or ship it. It's also pretty sleazy to have ups snatch these packages and ship them back.

Great idea on chatting with them to obtain record on restock fee and other options.

True … and if you're chatting to snap a transcript of it, I'd specify that you were charged incorrectly and the deal didn't ring up right, despite following their terms and that's the reason for trying to cancel. That should show that it's due to their glitch rather than just changing your mind about wanting the phone in case you end up having to dispute it. It's obvious that you weren't trying to skirt the rules in any way since you even had the $45 plans with it.

Below the iPhone SE3 listing on WM website/app it now says "available in store Friday" and shows the time it goes live. With no mention of any details, it's very misleading. It implies the phone is $49 in stores with nothing else required.

I can't find any Walmarts that can actually do the activation. Nobody picks up first of all. So I drove around to 3 stores nearby and all of them said they have the phone but don't have the WARP system or whatever anymore to do the activation so it would be $149.

Seems to be an issue in a lot of Walmarts, I haven't seen a phone kiosk in mine for at least 3 years.
