Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.

So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.

Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

Can someone help? I walked out the door with the $49 SE and plan activated. Came home, put in simcard and turned on. All im seeing is SOS on top

Just meant that it's possible if they reinstated yours maybe they're going to ship some that people have been waiting on & it's going to cause duplicates if people reorder.

Curious - if someone has a screen grab or email showing order was cancelled - and it later gets shipped anyway are they still responsible for payment? Anyone know?

Then that means the phone isn't activated. You need Walmart to provide you with the 15 digit service pin. Otherwise you are SOL and have to purchase another plan.

Ahh, make sense. I didn't do a screen grab as I would have never expected it would have been changed. I never did get an updated email from Straighttalk, just the initial order email.

Ordered a black phone with $45 plan 2 days ago around noon. Got the tracking number yesterday. Was waiting in case it got canceled by sender, but actually arrived! Tried to activate online but got the error message. Called the number listed on the sim card and it was an automated line. Basically it has you enter the imei number, then put the sim into the phone, then once it finds a signal, make a call. Then tells you it's completed. Thanks to OP!
(It's my backup phone, so I can wait 61 days. Also found a leftover iPhone 7 screen protector which fits well enough, and old iPhone 6s silicone case also fits ok.)

They gave me a long receipt, would it be on there?

Try logging into your account at ST (look for the little person icon to log in) with the email address you gave them. Click "forgot password" since they probably didn't set one up and it should mail you a link to set it.

Then see if the phone shows up under devices. If not, you may need to walk through the online phone activation process on their website

Same here. It's been a pending charge until today as I can now see that it posted as of Tuesday. Hopefully that means it's being shipped soon, otherwise I'll call next week and request a refund if I haven't received it by then.

From what I was told they supposed to provide you a printout of the service pin. I'm in the SOL part where I wasn't provided the printout and I bought the phone while travel for work. Didn't put in the sim until I got home and it wasn't fully activated. The Walmart is 3 hours away and I can't get a hold of Electronic dept for my dear life. Walmart Cell person near me tells me their WARP system won't be able to retrieve the info for me. So head back to your Walmart if you can.

Sounds like they're shipping some of the old orders if charge posted. It's happened before when they've had good deals - they oversell & need to wait for more inventory, meanwhile buyers are left hanging for days not knowing what's going on. Has happened with refurbished iPhones a few times.
