Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.
So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.
Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

60 days unlock policy is right on their website, and verified by a billion SDers. why are people still asking this?

Phone will activate with Verizon, they own Straight Talk.

Because no one bothers to do their own research anymore. They don't even read the info provided, just want one of us to do it for them.
And no one needs to post "I got mine" over & over either, it's just wasting space.

Is there any way we can confirm phone has been unlocked without opening the package? I bought in store and it was activated on the spot.
Yes. You never even need to power on the phone for unlock if you don't want to. It just needs to be activated on their end. But make sure that the phone is activated in their system by going to the ST account page and make sure the plan timer has started AND your specific device ID shows up there. And you may want to check back after a few days to make sure that it's still showing your line as "active" with the plan timer still running just to be certain everything is still on track. To verify that it's actually unlocked at the end of 60 days, you can do a free "Apple basic info" check at Sickw.com

I ordered my phone on Monday (only one) with plan. It still says Pending fulfillment. I called ST 9 times and got the run around saying it is out of stock to your order is not valid. One said the order has been cancelled even though I never got an email. My credit card was charged on Monday - what should I do - dispute the charge with credit card company or wait to see if it ships till next week - Nobody at straight talk has any idea what is going on - they just say whatever comes to their mind. Now no phone and a credit charge. Horrible customer service.
You absolutely never know with these guys. Some phones on past deals have shipped out after a couple of weeks or so. You have at least 30-60 days to dispute, so there's simply no need not to give it a little time and it may ship or get canceled and refunded on its own. Doing a chargeback will basically cut you out of any possible future deals with them and they do frequently have some good ones. Maybe not a big deal, but just no reason not to give it a little time to play out on its own. You'll absolutely still be able to dispute it in another week or so.

Yup I had a similar thing where the plan wasn't linked to my sim either. When I called, the rep said my phone was hooked to Total by Verizon instead of straighttalk and that I needed to buy a plan to activate. I mentioned I already bought a plan when I bought the phone, so she had to pull up my order number. From there she rebranded my phone to straight talk, had to create a new account, and then credited me the $45 plan, upon which it finally activated on my end. Took about a ~30min call to resolve.
Having the same problem right now. Oddly they say they can't find my order number or any record of my purchase.

Update: spent 30 minutes talking to a rep and She hung up on me. She said I can't use the phone with straight talk because it is a total by Verizon phone.

Update 2: called again and the 2nd rep is much more knowledgeable and helpful.

Is there a way to make the app "cover" smaller than default? I just want background picture to be more visible. I made the text size at the smallest and it didn't reduce the "square size"
Not sure I'm following what you mean. If you want to change the zoom level of a background / wallpaper pic, I'm thinking that cropping the photo might accomplish that.

yes it will be nice to know without opening the box that way you can sell it as brand new and get little more dough for it. The SIM number IMIE number is right on the box I was wondering if we can check, mine were also activated in store. Why break the virgin seal if you don't have to.

Actually phone will work on any Tracfone brand - Tracfone, Total by Verizon or Straight Talk. It's all the same company.
Try again, the rep has no clue (sad to say it happens a lot).

When dealing with support that isn't being helpful or can only read from the manual
HANG UP and CALL AGAIN
hopefully the next rep will have been trained better.

Got 3 from Walmart in store, no problem, they had plenty more... $91 after tax/phone

Do I actually need to activate if I just them for Apple trade in or can I just take them out of the box and go straight to Apple across the street?
