Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.
So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.
Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

Anyone in Miami can get it in Walmart? I can't even call any Walmart's wireless customer service no one picked up the phone. And I went to two Walmart in Hialeah and they told me they don't know the promotion and asked me to place the order online..

Actually phone will work on any Tracfone brand - Tracfone, Total by Verizon or Straight Talk. It's all the same company.
Try again, the rep has no clue (sad to say it happens a lot).

When dealing with support that isn't being helpful or can only read from the manual
HANG UP and CALL AGAIN
hopefully the next rep will have been trained better.
Thanks! This turned out to be true and the 2nd rep knew exactly what the problem was and got me sorted out very efficiently.

Be aware that if you buy in store, the rep may have processed the order in the system correctly but you will need to activate yourself on the Straight Talk website. I left the store thinking it was all good, turned on the phone with sim card in and phone was not activated. I went back and they actually gave me a printout of the $35 plan voucher and I had to manually activate it on Straight talk with the 15digit code. Worked fine right after phone reset and text to 611611 shows unlock will be in 60 days

Show them the promotion on the website - it clearly says in store only.
It's not available online.

The irony of a company named "Straight Talk" lacking transparency during a big screw-up of their own making is something to behold. It would have been nice if ST had acknowledged their mistakes and clearly explained what they were going to do about the situation. Yet, instead, we get silence instead of straight talk.
Ironic the company called Straight Talk but they're bending you over

I was in the same situation. The phone was sent to me without the plan being linked. Someone at Straight Talk didn't do their job. I was able to get it resolved by messaging them on twitter. You just need to wait a few minutes and be ready to answer because once they respond you only have two minutes to indicate you are there or they move onto the next customer.
Thank you

So ordered first thing Monday and other than when the site seemed down partially has shown that whole time as Pending remote fulfillment. I ordered with the $35 plan as nothing at the time stipulated the $45 plan or higher.

My purchase on the account I created shows as approved and I have been charged.

Any chance this ships or do I need to try and pick one up tomorrow in person at Walmart?
Same.

Same boat as others. Ordered on Monday.

I was going to buy from Walmart but they didn't have the deal available. Now they might have it but I don't need two of these phones.

Worst customer service. You could talk to 12 reps and get 12 different answers.

I paid with PayPal backed by Cc so worst case scenario I do charge back, which I have never had to do in my life.

Got 3 from Walmart in store, no problem, they had plenty more... $91 after tax/phone

Do I actually need to activate if I just them for Apple trade in or can I just take them out of the box and go straight to Apple across the street?
What's the trade in value of these?

Got tired of waiting for a phone for which I paid but will probably never receive. The second Walmart I checked had them in stock so I nabbed one. I'll refuse delivery on the small chance I actually get the phone I originally ordered (and paid for but will probably never receive).
