Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.
So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.
Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

FX1 to the rescue lol.

The SE 2022 is also $49.00 on the Straight Talk website. You still need to add a plan to get the sale price. I just bought 2 phones on the $35.00 plan and used a cashback bonus from my Capital One card.

Total price after tax was $186.00 and I'll get 8% back on my CC.

Sorry, the thread is over 200 pages and I may have missed it but I assume that this price at ST is dead? It shows $99 But when you add it it changes to $149 and the cheapest plan is $45.

my 11/7 order (with $45 plan) has not moved from 'approved' status. Should I continue to wait? or cancel?

For phones that were racalled to sender, people usually see a refund in a few days to a week. A call to ST is mostly useless. Just check for the refund and if for some reason you don't see it in a week, do a CC dispute.
Actually they never refund. Had to do dispute

do we have to keep the no active for 60days? I mean do we have to recharge the plan after 30days? to get it unlocked after 60days?

I've actually never tried re-registering one of my unlocked Tracfones back on their network, as the goal was always to use it with another carrier. However, I suspect that a call to CS should be able to activate a phone that's no longer active on their network if the automatic process doesn't do it.

Also, there's an option to "remove line/device" on the TF website which removes that IMEI from their network if I remember correctly. That may speed the process of allowing re-registration of that particular device on their network if that's what you're looking to do.
Thanks Sly. Your unending help in this thread is much appreciated!

Tell them you want to buy $35 bronze plan along with a locked Tracfone and the system would automatically give you the discount.

did tell them its false advertising? all walmart are corp stores. So if they have stock they have to sell it for the advertised price.

I've seen people who have received their refunds from canceled orders in previous threads. There was a huge problem with many people not receiving refunds from botched orders on one particular thread (the iPhone 11 deal), however it's not always the case by any means and silly to go filing willy nilly credit card disputes unless there's actually a problem. There's certainly no need to wait 60 days or something crazy, but giving it a week from the recalled order just makes sense.

Just tell the cellphone rep that you want the iPhone SE 3 straight talk with at least the $35 plan and the phone price will drop. The system automatically does it.

Any way to know which Walmart(s) can activate phones before going there. It is hard to call as nobody picks up.
Tried calling, no one ever answers. Went at 10 am last Monday when the promo was supposed to start because on the Walmart website it says the wireless dept opens at 10 am. There was one guy in the whole electronics dept and he said come back at 1 pm because that's when the wireless guy comes in and he's the one who knows how to do the phone things. So I came back later and still no wireless guy so I thought, "Ah, well, forget it." Few days later I needed to pick up some stuff at Walmart. I was thinking they're probably sold out of the iPhones but I was already there so might as well check. By some miracle there was somebody at the wireless desk. He said he had to look for it in the back so he left and some time later he comes back and says he doesn't know where "they" put the phones. I asked if the system was saying they don't have them and he says they're supposed to have a few but nobody seems to know where they are. I didn't budge and he went over to a few other Walmart workers in the electronics dept to ask. Honestly, this didn't make sense to me because he was the guy in charge of the phones. I was fully expecting he was just going to come back and say, "Sorry, we don't have them after all." To my surprise he comes back and pulls open a drawer right there under the wireless desk where I had been waiting while he looked everywhere else. The iPhones were right there. Okay. Then he tries to convince me to get something else. He said there's a promo starting the next day for iPhone 13s. I said, "No thanks, I just want this one." So he finally sold it to me and the whole process of activating and actually buying the phone took just a few minutes. What took 3 times longer was the whole Walmart shuffle - the "let me check in the back", "let me check the system", "let me ask somebody", etc. I stayed polite the whole time but stood firm. I'm guessing I lucked out that it was somebody who didn't want to go so far as to lie about not having them even though it was obvious he really didn't want to sell it. I know there's probably others who would just flat out say they don't have them. All this to say just try in store especially if you're going to be there anyway and you're willing to spend time and endure the Walmart shuffle. You might luck out.

The automatic price drop only seems to register after the phone is activated through the separate WARP system. When I bought a phone and plan on my first visit, they scanned them both and no discount appeared. They had to do a manual price override for me on that one (very YMMV on those). My second purchase, they activated my line in that separate system and then the discount showed up properly when they rang it up. It sounds like not all stores have the WARP system, which could make getting the automatic discount problematic.
