Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.
So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.
Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

  • ordered 1 black iPhone SE with $45 plan on the 9th.
  • it got delivered today.
  • activated by calling the number in wiki, only difference is, after entering ZIP code, it forwarded me to a person to continue activation. They couldn't add the line to my web site account, but not a real problem, can be done later.
  • restarted the phone to get serice.
  • texted 611611 UNLOCK two times as other also reported. Got the response that phone will be automatically unlocked on 1/13/24.

I placed a second order after my first was recalled. This got "shipped", but the tracking number isn't real. UPS doesn't recognize it.

Try going to UPS tracking and there should be an option to "track by reference number" or something like that. Then enter your ST order number as the reference number and search. Some people in previous threads with something similar were able to pull up the tracking info at UPS that way. Also, you may want to check the tracking number again in a day or two, as sometimes there can be a lag with numbers showing up.

Exact same experience as me. Everytime I called, they'd literally seem to do an order status check on their website that anyone can do and then transfer me to Escalations/Corporate/Manager/etc. I'd often then get disconnected, like 90% of the time. After reaching someone in Corporate, I was told that my order would ship whenever they had stock to do so and that my order couldn't be cancelled, only rejected or sent back. I went ahead and did a credit card dispute.

How do you plan to add the activated line to your website account later?
Lots of people who activated their phone following the wiki don't see the lines on their online accounts which they used to place their orders.

"corporate" overseas call center. They have no real power to do Anything.
The actual corporate in Miami is just as useless

Only supercenter store can activate prepaid phones.
