Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.

So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.

Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

I did and I got forwarded to Total, and asked for a PIN to reload the balance.
My Included instructions had two numbers, first one for Total & 2nd one for Straight Talk -
did you call the 2nd number - or the first one?
If you try to activate on Total (or Tracfone) phone will activate with included sim but you will also have to add a plan - you can only use the prepaid ST plan for activation on ST.

I bought iPhone and plan at Walmart. requested NO auto refill.

Activated phone and got text saying:
Due on 12/14...
...
estimated renewal...
...
39.56
...

I got into my straight talk account and there is no payment method on file and no auto refill enabled. Is there any chance Walmart will auto refill from the card I swiped or am I all good? I don't get why I got this text.

Thank you
How did you activate your phone that you bought from Walmart?
Phone line and online activation are asking me for 15 digit SIM pin that I don't have..

My goodness, yes. I should create a Straight Talk bingo card. Calling customer service leads to the following conversations:
  • We can't find your order.
  • Your order is cancelled. You violated the terms of the promotion (even though I ordered a $45 plan with the phone on 11/8)
  • Our refund process is "iNsTanT".
  • Your order is pending, not cancelled.
  • You need to wait 3-5 business days (standard answer for everything related to time: shipping speed, refunds from the bank, when your order will be shipped, emails, etc.)
  • The phone is out of stock (then why can I place an order for the phone on your website?)
  • Hangs up at any point in the conversation
  • Ask one question. Placed on hold for 30 seconds. Ask a follow up question. Placed on hold for another 30 seconds.
  • "May I have your first name?"
Bonus: Online chat promises a callback. They never do.
I'm perplexed by the thumbs down on all the comments about pending remote fulfillment. I'm returning to this thread for any updates on this, specifically. I ordered 11/6 and still pending. Kind of silly on STs part but not sorry to clutter your thread.

Wait, is someone just mad and thumbs downing any and every post? lol this thread is weird.

I would suggest to everyone to just start filling claims against Straight Talk with the BBB. Also file a complaint with the FCC and a fraud complaint with the FTC. These go on file and these organizations reach out and look into these issues.

In fact one instance for example is Century Link internet who has been raising prices on customers with locked for life pricing. People are already seeing their bills returned to the old price without notice after filing with the FCC & FTC. So apparently it works.

Ok, there are some fools who take advantage of "slick" deals all the time but here think they are all high and mighty, well maybe they are high. There is no difference from people ordering Monday and after Monday. So what if you got the $35 plan, that was being advertised Monday morning and working on Straight Talk's site. Even if you got it without plan, while that was not being advertised , the site let you do it. Straight Talk messed up on this one. The only scammers are people who bought more than 3 or 4 phones. Those deserve vote downs and probably should be banned as well. I am switching from classic to redesign just to vote u up and give thanks

What is the complaint about? That they canceled orders ?

The whole TU / TD thing seems so silly and juvenile. SD should really get rid of it. As someone else mentioned previously, this is a deal site not Reddit. It would be one thing if they actually gave some kind of guidance as to which were helpful comments, etc but it basically seems like everyone just thumbing down opinions they don't agree with or even helpful comments and some completely harmless questions have thumbs down. Heck, it seems like every post in here has at least one TD. The whole thing is kind of stupid. I almost exclusively use classic view, so hardly ever even see thumbs, but they jump out whenever I pull it up on my phone. I think I'll really dread this site once they nix classic view for good.

The website says they don't charge credit cards until item is shipped. Customers have all been charged when order was made. Website says once shipped item will arrive in 1-3 business days.

It is possibly consumer fraud. They are acting in bad faith. They took people's money. They haven't returned it if they do in fact plan to eventually cancel the orders. They make it nearly impossible to get a refund. Their own tech support actually suggest you dispute the charge with your credit card.

Because of the guarantee to not charge until shipping and as stated above it probably triggers and violates FTC guidelines for Consumer protection and violates Consumer protection laws demanding reasonable expectation for delivery time seeing as they say once charged and shipped you will receive item in 1-3 business days.

If they happen to hit 30 days regardless they will be in violation of laws demanding reasonable expectation for delivery regardless in addition to any other issues that could be deemed fraud by them taking people's money without delivery the product as described or giving a swift and easy to achieve refund.

Yeah, texting 611611 for an unlock date is strictly informational and not required. If your phone is successfully activated on their network, it should unlock automatically in 60 days. If not turning on the phone, you may want to log into the ST site to verify that the correct IMEI shows up under your device info and that the plan countdown has started.
Where do you find IMEI info on the site? I could not find it

Yep, I experienced that all
