Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.

So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.

Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

ST is the most dishonest company there ever is. They tell me that the order was refunded because it is out of stock. When I point that it is available on website for $50 higher price, they say it is oos for $49. WTF does that even mean.

it's my online order! i insert sim and waiting for service but couldn't call the 1877 number! how long needs to wait before calling for activation ?
Did you go through their activation process? It can be done online or by phone (sometimes works if online gives an error. Once that's done, it's usually pretty quick, but sometimes needs a power cycle. Also, it can occasionally take a few hours, so set it aside and give it some time if the online / phone activation appeared to be successful.

You're using the wrong card then.
I am just reporting from the website. I did chargebacks with UNRECOGNIZABLE purchases from $500 gas at a airport in Nevada and that went quicker because it was obvious fraud. When someone admits that they purchased a product and demand a chargeback, a chargeback needs to be investigated closer and will take much longer than a refund. The bank has to hear from both sides and find out what is going on. Even with eBay disputes, it takes a long time. Read that link to better understand the difference between chargeback vs refund.

I did some Walmart hunting yesterday. Stores that have phones in stock don't have WARP. Stores that have WARP don't have phones in stock. Game over. One the reps told me people were buying like 10-20 phones
Same here. But, one guy told me they were getting more stock overnight. Sure enough, stores that were out of stock now showed in stock. Went to one that I knew had WARP and finally got one. Worth checking if you're still interested.

Both 11/6 online purchases now show pending refund for me. Did not contact them at all to initiate anything.

You are not supposed to wait 2 weeks or contact for refund….Most other companies/good companies refund swiftly when they are cancelling or not shipping your orders for some reason.

I'm wondering what happens to the phones that were bought using a fake/random email address. With TracFone, devices need to be removed from an account before they can be reactivated on TF by another user. The device IMEI is linked to an account and can't be added to a different account unless it is released. I'm guessing ST is the same.

Just hoping that these phones aren't in some type of ST/TF limbo
There was no need to use the fake e-mail accounts if you know the dot trick, for the same email you can get like 10 authentic email accounts.

Was it a new ST account? Did the online activation give any errors? Do you see a phone number assigned to your phone under "manage lines"? . If so, then I'd probably give it a few hours then power-cycle again, as they're sometimes slow.

If you don't see a phone number or plan associated with your line, then you'll probably need to call them, as they may need to check into it… tell them you bought a plan with it and have your order number handy.

(Note: to avoid potential confusion for new readers, this is regarding an online order, not a Walmart purchase.)

I repeat, you're using the wrong card and you're reporting generic half-truths.
You are confused and clearly don't know what is a chargeback. I am literally showing proof with a website link. Read to understand better. A chargeback needs to be investigated. Why would a chargeback need to be investigated you say? So customers don't do chargeback fraud. What is chargeback fraud you say? Read the website and learn something what chargeback means. I can't help you if you refuse to face the facts on that website.

Notice how many posters are reporting that they are getting refunds on their 11/6 order without even doing anything.

Anyone think that ST would have this for $49 on Friday?
Who knows. If you really want one I wouldn't wait. It's not like it was a few years ago when Walmart had displays in the aisles full of ST phones without need for activation.

A lot of complaining about chargebacks etc. Did anyone learn a lesson from last year's iphone 11 fiasco? I would never order anything from ST/TF companies' website.
