Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.

So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.

Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

Even if you could, the trade-in value is only $68. Not worth it.

Yes, if Google ever offers enhanced trade-in values like they did last year. Although, you might be better off just buying a used SE from ebay or FB marketplace instead.

I haven't checked but I wouldnt be surprised if alot of these end up on ebay. I'll just keep mine as a backup phone or when I want to carry around a smaller phone. Hopefully some apple watch deals on black Friday which is my main purpose of getting a budget level iphone

My ST order still says pending remote fulfillment- has one been able to get them to cancel it to get your refund or do I need to wait 30 days and then file a dispute with my credit card company?

I am trying to find out if timer for the 30-day plan started when I paid for the phone and the plan or when I physically insert the Sim in the phone. If the latter, how long do I have until I have to activate the plan? Would love it if the latter is true as my current mint plan expires in 16 days.
It's activated at the register, which is the only way the $49 price goes thru in the system.

I just got one at Walmart. The phone guy says it is required to be with the $45 plan in order to get the phone for $49. Also, the phone doesn't unlock for 12 months per the phone guy. I;m hoping he is wrong.
He's completely wrong. I activated mine at Walmart with the $35 plan (one month only). I then texted "unlock" to 611611 and got the "great news!!! Your device will be automatically unlocked on 1-18-2024."

Hello, I'm hoping someone here can help clarify this. If I just bought one with a $35 plan at the store, did/does my plan (and I suppose subsequently the unlock timer) get started right upon activation?

Or does it start when I unbox and put SIM card in?

Asking because I got a couple devices and would like to utilize the plan one month after the other on each, not in a rush to get the 60 day unlock as long as I do eventually get it.

Thank you for taking the time to answer.
Yes, it starts right upon activation at the store. That's the only way the system allows the $49 price. The timer starts right there at the store once it's activated in their system. You can check by texting "unlock" to 611611, and it'll tell you that it will automatically unlock in 30 days (from purchase/activation at the store)

EDIT: **60 days

Anyone know if porting the number out before the 30 days is up messes with the unlock?? I've already confirmed that the phone will be automatically unlocked in 30 days by texting "unlock" to 611611, but can the unlock process be undone by porting? I've heard people even say to make sure you actually use (text, call) the phone so the unlock goes thru, but idk if that's true, it's my first time with ST

The iphone unlocks automatically after 60 days. You can text unlock to 611611. It may tell you how many days until the device unlocks. With Android devices you have to obtain unlock codes after 60 days.

There are a couple of ways to tell that your device is unlocked. Obviously, you need to wait 60 days. After that in the settings tab and then general tab and then about tab. You have a line entry half way down the page. Carrier Lock, if that says no sim restrictions. Your iphone is unlocked.

The other way of testing it. Wait 60 days and pop in a sim from another carrier. If your phone and data work. Your device is unlocked.

**I meant to type in 60 days, not 30 (my dumb**s read the unlock date of 1-18-24 as 30 days for some reason, instead of 60). My question mostly is: if I port out from ST on day 29, will that undo the unlock?? Or once it says my iPhone will be unlocked on 1-18-24, it'll be unlocked no matter if I port out before that date?

I am also in same boat, ordered on November 8th and the order status is still pending remote fulfillment. Any advise? ST chat rep can't help as they say orders are shipped from warehouse and they don't know when they will ship!!

All ST orders are cancelled and will be refunded. Just wait for the system to work itself out

For reference, it took about 15 days for me to get the refund after I ordered

I didn't call anyone

The phone is worth 1000 in trade in credit at Verizon

You can get it from either new line or loyalty offer

Combo with Costco bonus to get 100 or 250 Costco credit and Vz $200 port number offer to get even more

I just did 6 lines with various of new line and loyalty offers at Costco

Will sell the existing 13s to offset the cost of se and tax fee on the 15s

Yes Vz is expensive, but if you qualify for their discount it's not that bad

For reference 4 of my 6 lines on the old 5 G plan cost 28 after tax and fees
