$800, refurb, no keyboard. Keyboards even open box tend to be more than $100. Idk, I think I'd rather just get this bundle new and know I'd have an easier time with a return if needed.

I've wanted a Surface Pro for a few years now but the fact that it still uses power hungry Intel chips when it makes all the sense in the world to go with AMD Ryzen has held me back. Not sure why this is, bc MSFT introduced Ryzen to its Surface laptop line a few years ago, but instead of sticking with it, they scaled back and went with all Intel in the following generation of Surface laptops. At this point, I will wait and see what Meteor Lake brings to the table. I still love the design and concept of the Surface Pro and I would easily choose it over an Ipad Pro if it had a Ryzen in it. It's just a pity that after a few years of success and momentum (probably through the Surface Pro 6 or 7), MSFT just failed to get the right apu/cpu that would have provided the battery life and iGPU capabilities needed to keep the SP line in favor with consumers.

Amazing how it's all about AMD and not Intel. Used to be the other way around.

I actually carry both an iPad Pro 12.9" and a Surface Pro 7. They are very different devices. I've never seen anybody use the SP as a tablet, because it is not. It is a full-fledged Windows laptop that's ultra portable with ultra short battery life (c. 3 hours, no joke), to your point. Between my wife and I, we have had the SP4, 5, 6 and 7. They all only last 3 hours on a charge. You just need to buy an external power bank.

NVIDIA and AMD both announced recently that they will make ARM based CPUs for Windows. But that's probably at least two years away. Windows on ARM still blows. Meantime, this and a power bank is the best one can get...

Which keyboard is this? The one that can store and charge the Surface Pen 2 or the one that cannot?

Fully agreed on your point that the SP is primarily a laptop -- which is why I've wanted one bc, when I'm out and about or traveling, I need laptop functions first (to get work done) and basic tablet capabilities (video streaming, reading, and occasional sketching) a very distant second. As it stands, I carry a laptop and an iPad which meets my needs well, but that puts me at about 6lbs total (I use a 16" laptop) while a SP that had good battery life would be no more than three. Anyway, these are first world problems, so I'll be fine Smilie

Great device. I purchased it shortly after launch. The comparison to an iPad isn't really possible. This device is a full-fledged computer and is capable of things my iPad Pro is not, even with its overpriced magic keyboard attached. It's extremely portable for what it offers.

Combined with OneNote, it is great for taking notes during meetings and can easily switch to allow connect to conference room projector and display a PowerPoint presentation. It runs business all of my business software without a hitch. The same can't be said for my iPad Pro.

I will agree with another comment that mentioned the need to move Ryzen. The shift to an AMD processor would definitely be a major plus. Battery life is pretty poor when multitasking and running some of the more intense programs, but it charges pretty quickly. I have not been in many situations where battery life has been a concern. I do use a dock at work and at home that does charge the Surface, so that does help. When multitasking, I do get about 6 hours of battery life, which is significantly lower than the advertised 15. But if you're not going to be away from a power source longer than that, then you'll be fine. I get about 8-10 hours when doing lighter tasks.

New keyboards go for $100, on sale. Just got one from Best Buy but it's red. . Do not buy this bundle.

These will lose value in 6months when the new generation comes out. The Qualcomm chips will make the surface line what it's supposed to be, making all the previous ones worthless
This isn't close to true. The new snapdragon may be a very good soc, but Windows sucks on arm.

How are you getting such little battery life!? PCMag says the battery lasts a smidgen over 13 hours for the Intel version: https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/mic...ro-9-intel

I think this is the first gen keyboard which is a lot cheaper
