Looks like the TCL can do 120hz at 4k so it'd be better for gaming/PC and maybe sports usage which I would think warrants the extra $ but I'm no TV expert.

Does the TCL have smearing at 120Hz?

I have the TCL R646, it's been a great TV. I use it to watch shows and play games on my PC. I haven't noticed smearing on my end while using a RTX 4090 to play at 4k 120hz HDR on. I used CRU to lower the HDMI 2.1 bit rate to match the 10bit panel as you don't need the full 48gbps.

I have this tv. All the whites pulse (not flickering) matter what settings I do. I put my fire stick in and it doesn't do that - thinking of returning for the tcl R646

I remember reading and seeing reviews about the TCL R646. For this price, it seems like a no-brainer. I'm more curious why they are still selling this 2021 TCL model that's 2 years old.

Lots of brands sell TV models that are 2 or 3 years old. Sony, Samsung, it's very common. They don't have to stop producing a certain model just because a new one came out. Sometimes the production dates are recent even if it's an old model year.

Typically they sell older models for a year, maybe a little longer, after the newer year's model comes out.
