If the refurb dell was going perfectly stock, but BSOD with aftermarket parts.
it mean the motherbroad is super picky
But it could be the reason for the constant blue screen. For now, I just put back the old SSD 256 and see how it goes for a few days. If the problem is solely the 1T drive, then I will pick up a SSD 512 during Black Friday.
The refurbished Dell Latitude 7400 was from 2019. Probably the motherboard can't handle the latest 1T drive.
I've owned roughly 100 laptops due to my job and hobbies. So perhaps I've just gotten pickier over the years. I won't buy one with less than quad core, 16GB RAM (or has expansion slots), IPS screen, 250 nit minimum, nvme capability, 15.6" or larger, and backlit keyboard.
A lot of that may seem silly depending on who you ask. To each their own! Much of it is personal preference. Of course, I still argue against the crazies that need an rj45 port. It's going the way of the phone jack / modem and is becoming unrealistic to expect it to be built in. As things become less used, they get the axe. Buy a cheap dongle and be done with it. And yes, you could say I could just buy a lamp.
