Unfortunately, it seems that if it's under $400, no backlit keyboard. That's often the case with ones above $400, too. The op did a good job by actually mentioning this; most deal posts don't. I won't buy without backlit, either.

16:9 screen in late-2023. What is this, a retro-vintage styled machine? No 16:10? No 3:2? It also has the same ram and ssd specs as my 2013 machine, so it must be a throwback to the dark ages.
I thought we were looking for ultra wide squared these days of 39:2 ratio? Maybe 2:39 with video going back to vertical with the TikTok.

Excellent specs, awful form factor. I'm sure there is an audience for this that don't mind but I'd spend an extra $100 for a quality shell

Yup, you can check reddit or the Dell foruma about this stupid design, it seems like a time bomb, at any moment will torn apart.

I would try a better SSD 512. Some of intel ssd suck in Intel 8th and 10th Gen .

If the refurb dell was going perfectly stock, but BSOD with aftermarket parts.
it mean the motherbroad is super picky
Thank you for your advice! I would never consider getting a SSD 512 when I have 1T.
But it could be the reason for the constant blue screen. For now, I just put back the old SSD 256 and see how it goes for a few days. If the problem is solely the 1T drive, then I will pick up a SSD 512 during Black Friday.

The refurbished Dell Latitude 7400 was from 2019. Probably the motherboard can't handle the latest 1T drive.

Wow, has prices gone up that much in one year? This time last year I bought an Asus laptop for $280. Came with backlit keyboard and a fast CPU.

SAME!! People on here sound like old angry men: "I will NOT buy a laptop without a backlit keyboard!!!!!!!" It's funny as hell honestly. You'd think backlit keyboards are the CPU or something the way these people talk about them LOL
I'm one of those that have a hard requirement for a backlit keyboard. If for some reason I needed a laptop ASAP (and it was a good deal), then I may ignore the annoyance of not having a BL keyboard. But if I'm not in a rush I'll hold out for one that does.

I've owned roughly 100 laptops due to my job and hobbies. So perhaps I've just gotten pickier over the years. I won't buy one with less than quad core, 16GB RAM (or has expansion slots), IPS screen, 250 nit minimum, nvme capability, 15.6" or larger, and backlit keyboard.

A lot of that may seem silly depending on who you ask. To each their own! Much of it is personal preference. Of course, I still argue against the crazies that need an rj45 port. It's going the way of the phone jack / modem and is becoming unrealistic to expect it to be built in. As things become less used, they get the axe. Buy a cheap dongle and be done with it. And yes, you could say I could just buy a lamp. Smilie

According to the reviews at Dell, battery life is short. At least one review says to expect 2 hours.
