Review at Erin's Audio Corner: https://www.erinsaudiocorner.com/...p_500m_ii/

"RP-500M II is a marked improvement over the original (v1) version in terms of midrange detail."
"[sensitivity] is actually closer to 85dB @ 2.83v/1m anechoic."
"The lifted treble isn't enough to make you take immediate notice; it's not sharp nor does it stand out (to the level that other speakers' lifted HF do). However, once you turn the speaker off-axis about 30° the HF tilts downward a bit and is, in my opinion, much more enjoyable. I'd recommend toeing the speakers out for this reason. You will need to experiment in your room because too much toe-out in a lively room may result in more reverb than you'd like."
"The peak around 10-15kHz does cause synth music to sound quite strained at times."

These seem like they would be much more positionally dependent. Unless you have matching RP LCRs already, I wouldn't think of these as ideal. If you're flanked by walls, some dedicated HT bipole surrounds would be better.

The highs will be very room dependent, in the farfeild in a boho pad with lots of textures and soft furnishings it might be just right. In a concrete spartan pad in the near field maybe to much air and zing.
Great thing is the directivity is superb(like most contemporary design Klipsch speakers/NOT the stuff like the Forte and Heresy ect.) so PEQ/EQ is easy to set to taste and stil have mathcing on and off axis energy.

Great deal, maybe even find an OB in excellent for less.

I went with the 502s for my surrounds, the bifacial really delivers a "more convincing" experience in a 5.1 surround, and if you are doing a 7.1 they would help "smooth" out the surrounds so you cant pick out a single speaker during playback.

If you have some ceiling speakers and are going for the best atmos/object based sound then the consensus for most is to use single side speakers like these.

Yeah, that's everything I've heard as well. Kind of limited by my receiver to 7.1 and everything i read and watch on youtube says 5.1.2 is better then 7.1. SO that's what I'm running right now.

But I really still want to just try 7.1 for my self and if i like it upgrade my receiver at some point.

Anyone have any knowledge on how these would compare to the KEF Q150 (on sale for $349.99)?

Q150 is highly regarded but no one can "tell you" which one is better for you. Core specs similar (similar sensitivity). Q150 has better low-end response (down to 50 Hz for Q150 vs. maybe 65 Hz for RP-500M II). Q150 has a rather hot response at 5kHz up.

IMHO with subwoofer Klipsch would be better. Without SW it would be a toss-up

I'd go for 7.1 and then you're good to go for ceiling speakers when you upgrade your receiver. I love having rears because it totally immerses you on the horizontal plane. I picked up one of the cheapest Denon receivers that can do 7.2.4. It can process all those channels, but you have to use another amp or old receiver, which is what I'm doing to power 2 of the ceiling speakers. Watch Home Theater Gurus on Youtube if you haven't. The guy goes into very detailed info on all aspects of home theater.

I really thins this depends on what you are looking for. I think Kef is good in listening to music by surrounding ya while the Klipsch is very good when it comes to listening something in front of you.
