Item description says this is actually a 12" wok so it is a little on the small side, ideally you want a 14" wok

Woks are made for high temperature cooking and flames. Traditionally woks always had round bottoms -- flat ones being made to appeal to western kitchens.

Have been looking to buy a carbon steel wok and this deal caught my eye.

Is this good starter wok for home cooking using a gas range?

I've been using this wok for about 5 months, been great on stovetops that can't utilize a more traditional round-bottomed one. (semi-pro chef)

I have a 14" rounded bottom on a higher BTU gas stove. I don't it to be disappointing at times even with 24k BTUs. I think a normal burner for a wok is around 60k to get proper wok hay. I would not got less than 14" if you're trying to cook for more than yourself.

I'm fairly inexperienced and don't have a family history of using woks, just watched too many Uncle Roger videos, so take that for what its worth.

As the OP stated Babish only makes 1 wok (that's what's in their Amazon store, so likely it's a typo)... or I'll be receiving an item that doesn't at all resemble a wok... Smilie
You might receive Babish himself

Couple reviews on Walmart state that this is a 12.5" wok. So that's why Walmart description says 12" while the title is rounded up to 13".

What are the uses of a wok vs a frying pan? Does it need to be seasoned? Is cast iron better?

-yes, yes. I know the irony (carbony?) of an Asian asking a white person.

Your favorite baseball team must be used to wok'ing out of playoff contention.
